Does anyone have subserous fibroids? Have doctors advised to have it/them removed?

Just checking whether anyone has a subserous fibroid in their uterus and whether your doctor has advised removal before ivf?

I have a large subserosal fibroid hanging on the outside of my uterus and have been told it wouldn't affect conception or IVF, may give some pain during pregnancy if it grew but they wouldn't remove it. There are other types of fibroids, I think there are 3 types, and the other ones can cause issues I believe.

Thanks Aussie

I have the same type as yours and mine are lemon size! They advised not to remove but I’ve been reading articles saying how it can affect blood supply and contractions in your uterus that could be a cause of failure of implantation. There is also article saying how fibroids love to eat progesterone and so women with them need more progesterone to maintain a pregnancy!

Oh really? I have never read that before and did alot of research years ago. I have had two failed transfers and I know I have low progesterone... Could you send me the link to the article if you still have it? Thanks!

Just to add, I had a google about what you mentioned and I can see what you're saying, though it seems that is mainly related to submucosal fibroids.

Hi Leyla. Perhaps you could speak to your specialist about embolisation to shrink them down?? They often aren't a problem growing on the outside of the womb, but can sometimes cause problems during pregnancy if they grow. Your specialist will give you good advice I'm sure. Good luck! Diane

Have the same kind of fibroid and was told it won't affect conception and ivf. Though during transfer it gave a little issue to get to the uterus but apart from that I'm fine and feeling no pains at the moment. I'm 19 weeks pregnant and its my first ivf. Which you all the best.
