Egg collection delay

Hi there - I haven’t posted anything before but have been following other stories....

It’s my first IVF cycle, I’m on day 12 of Meriofert (225) stimulation. I had a scan on day 8 and had 7 follicles. I had a second scan on day 10 that showed 12, with two in the preferred range for collection, and 4 smaller ones that may be dormant.

On day 10 - Saturday - the nurse indicated that EC would likely be Tuesday rather than Monday (Monday was suggested on day 8). They called back on Sunday and said that it would actually be Wednesday. I then got a call today to say it will be Thursday. I keep telling myself that the team have seen 1000’s of patients and know what they are doing, but can’t help but feel a bit concerned that I’ve been stimulating for so long and that they haven’t suggested a follow up scan. Is there a chance that the eggs will be too large / mature by Thursday? I feel like tomorrow they’ll call and say Friday!

Has anyone been in a similar situation? I’ve been quite relaxed about everything until now!

I was on 225 Meriofert and ended up doing the trigger injection on day 13, so that sounds the same as you? We got 12 eggs from 13 follicles and 8 of them were mature, so the timing was probably fine. Wishing you lots of luck x

Hi hun, I was on max meriofert 450 for 14 day! I got 6 mature eggs from 6 follicles ( I have really low amh! ) so sounds ok to me! ..good luck! Xxx

Hey EllaKate, I was on the same as you last year- 225 meriofert. I started stims on 16th of the month and had eggs collected on the 30th of the month. So injection would most likely have been 12 or 13th day of stims, and that’s with PCOS where I ended up with 37 follicles and 25 eggs collected (had to be freeze all cycle) Although there’s a lot of change (which probably feels chaotic) I’m sure they’re doing it to make sure they get the best result for you. Hi Ellakate

2 rounds later and I don’t expect to start on stims until between day 14/15. I take a combo of Meriofert, gonal-f and cetrotide.

It caused me a lot of anxiety during my first round when I was expecting it to be day 8-10 day “normal” I’d read about.

My advice is don’t sweat it, it’ll be fine- good luck X

They just try to get most of follicles.. if they grow they can get more eggs

Hi don’t worry they know what there doing I’ve been delayed on all 3 cycles some follicles take more time to grow I’m currently waiting fir egg collecting was down for today but looking like it will be Monday I’m on stimulation day 13 x don’t stress x it’s better if there more at a good size so there more to work with better chance fir you if they can take 12 great follicles then just 6 good ones xx

Thank you xx. Everything went well today my follicles have grown so much so I’m all booked in for Friday for egg collection 😃😃😃 Honestly don’t stress your body works miracles when you don’t even know your doing it xx

Hi ya x yeah mine went fantastic was only expecting 6 follicles to be taken out and doctor taken out 11 which I’m so over the moon about, I’m 42 next week so I though 6 was brill but 11 x I’m on cloud nine at moment a little sore but the worst of its over xx just rest in time for that transfer 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I had 11 too! 3 fertilised and ET scheduled for Tuesday all being well. Is pretty nerve wracking and it’s only day 1 of 5 xx

I know 😩I feel its in gods hands now🙏🏻🙏🏻 xx we’ve done all the hard work so just try to enjoy these few days of feeling normal lol xx you want to be as happy as you can be on transfer days and positive , as when that little embryo goes in we start this all again for the 2ww lol xxx I’m looking forward to it and hope you are too x

Sorry I don't have experience with that drug but egg collection sounds about the same time as mine both times. Good luck
