Unexplained Mid-Cycle Light-Mid Flow Bleeding - Can anyone help?

Hello All,

Has anyone ever bled a medium flow for a few days mid cycle? I have spotted before/had a very light flow of blood, but usually, this is my 4th day that I have bled mid-cycle that isn’t a light bleed. It isn’t as heavy as having a period but I am needing to wear a panty liner and I would say this is a ‘light - medium flow’. On the first day this happened I also had a dark blood clot, but I have no cramps and no other symptoms.

Just to tell you a little about me, I have endometriosis and PCOS. I am currently waiting for my second round of IVF. In the meantime, I am taking metformin and some other supplements.

I am currently on day 21 of my cycle (which is a 28 day cycle) and this has been happening since cycle day 18. I ovulated cycle day 10-13 and had intercourse day 13.

I cannot imagine this is anything to do with implantation bleeding as it’s too early and to heavy.

There could be many reasons why such as medication, condition, stress etc. But if anyone has experienced this before and knows the possible cause behind their bleed, please let me know.

Hi Ljayne. It could be that you have a luteal phase deficiency, or just a hormone imbalance. You need to speak to your GP and get some blood tests done to check them out. Hope all is soon resolved. Diane

Thank you. I saw my acupuncture yesterday who is an absolute pro and has helped me so much. I have been recording my temperature too and he says that I wasn't producing enough progesterone. Thank you xx
