BFN with top grade blast 😢

Morning ladies, I've just had a BFN with a FET of a grade A day 6 blast. I was given 50/50 it working. I've had no spotting but a few symptoms but that could just be the lubion and the pessaries. I am so disappointed and I feel like it's never going to happen for me. My first fresh cycle with a grade C embryo failed before I even got to OTD. I have another cycle as part off my access fertility package. I am hoping that something can change with my protocol so I can achieve more decent blasts as of the 19 eggs collected only 2 made good enough blasts.

Has anyone had success with a second cycle where the protocol was changed? I was on short but with high doses of meds.

Im sorry to hear that your cycle has failed, its really tough! I cant help personally but I would hope that you will have a good chat with the clinic to see if they can gage what they think went wrong that you didnt get many blastocysts and if there is a better protocol they can use....maybe even a lower dose of meds to get better quality rather than quantity. The embryologist should also be able to give their two cents on whether they think it may be an egg or sperm issue. Hugs.xx

Thank you! My husband had the standard sperm analysis but they didn't look at DNA fragmentation. Maybe I'm too quick to think it's my eggs that are the problem.

They dont often look at DNA fragmentation but the embryologist should have an idea from how the fertilisation went and how the embryos develop.....depending on what stage they start to deteriorate gives an idea of whether its sperm or egg. The list of questions that Diane offers below can give you some idea of some questions to ask too. Oh and take a list....the mind often goes blank when sitting with the Dr.xx

I changed protocol on cycle 3 to natural modified (from short protocol - got plenty of eggs but all rubbish quality and only average quality blastocysts) natural Modified focussed on much fewer eggs and I am pregnant with twins now

Hi Danielle. Oh dear, not what we want to hear. I'm so sorry to hear this, and I do hope you've got plenty of support just now. Perhaps a shorter protocol using your own hormones might be the way to go, so that you use eggs that seem to want to come out rather than being forced out. I do have a couple f lists of questions I could email you if you want, to go through before seeing a specialist again. You would need to email in confidence to [e-mail] and I will get them to you. Thank you for the advice. At my last review they said they wouldn't change the protocol as I responded well to the meds but 11 out of 19 eggs were immature. I've read a few things about double trigger shots.

Hi, so sorry to hear your news today! It's heartbreaking. I had a similar experience, 3 blastocysts all failed and I'm hoping it was just a dud round. I also had a lot less mature eggs than I should have. I've changed clinics and have a new protocol so I'm hoping it will make a difference. My new clinic always does a double or a dual (hcg plus an agonist trigger), which could help with immature eggs. I'm being switched medications also. I think protocols can definitely make a big change to the outcome, so definitely have faith that it could be better next time xxx

Thanks, it's great to hear that protocols can be changed. You have to put your trust in the clinics to know what they are doing but it's definitely good to question this. I hope everything goes well with your next egg collection. I'd be very interested to know if it improves your outcome. Good luck! Xx
