Hi all,
My husband and I finally made it to the top of the waiting list at our private clinic, but have unfortunately made the difficult decision not to go through with it. We are expats living here in the UK, and our visas to reside here expire at the end of the year. So when calculating the time it would take to go through the medicated cycle, wait one cycle (since my AMH levels are high), and then do our first FET after that, we didn't want to take the risk of having to leave before we could have a successful transfer - in case anything goes wrong or off schedule.
The other looming question was what we would do with the likely remaining embryos (we'd have to travel back to the UK for more FETs, or pay an extra 3000-4000 pounds to transport them overseas).
We've know about our infertility for 2 years now, and its frustrating that now that we finally have a chance to do IVF, we still need to wait. If it weren't for the pandemic, I'm sure we wouldn't be in this position. But we think that there would be a lot less stress and risk if we start the process over once we settle in my home country of Japan (where IVF is a lot cheaper!!), and there shouldn't be as long of a waiting list since there are a lot more options of clinics.
I guess I'm posting this to get some affirmation that this is the right decision... but in the meantime we are going to keep trying to improve my husbands sperm motility. We've been on supplements and a healthy-ish diet for 3 months now, and he's going in for an analysis in a few weeks - fingers crossed that we see improvement!!
Best of luck to all of you going through the IVF process!
