Low AMH and NHS?

Hi lovely ladies,

I’ve just had a battery of tests in prep for my initial consultation at the Fertility clinic next week (NHS) and everything looks ok except for the dreaded AMH....

It’s not really a surprise because I’m fully aware that I have low AMH, but it’s gone down from 4.8 in Jan to 2.4

I’ve read from a few sources that the NHS have quite strict eligibility criteria and AMH is one of them!

Has anyone had low AMH and still been accepted for IVF through NHS? (So many acronyms 🤣) just worried we may get turned away.

Thanks x

Hi there my AMH is 3.9 and am having IVF on NHS they didn't mention anything about a min amh level for tretament. Is it specific to your location perhaps and their treatment rules?

Thanks for your reply :) Ok that’s really good to know. I just read it in the overall NHS guidelines surrounding the criteria. Maybe it is specific to location.

I would have thought Antral follicle count is probably a better indicator of success rather than AMH anyway

I don't know...I think they rely more on AMH because AFC can vary month to month and even if you have a good AFC it doesn't mean all of the follicles would respond to treatment. You amh would tell you that as it's basically telling them how active your ovaries are. Anyway, you just have to see how you respond with treatment, there are lots of women on here who get pregnant and have embryos that were able to be frozen. I'm due to start short protocol soon after I didn't respond well to long at all. Do you know what you will be doing in terms of protocol?

I’ve already had a couple of cycles last year privately and did both short and long protocols. I actually responded better to the long protocol (obv no pregnancy but more eggs retrieved)!

I have my first appointment to go through NHS next week so let’s see if they even refer me for treatment. If not it’ll have to be back to private.

Good luck for your next protocol 🤞🤞
