Feeling totally deflated today, I tested this morning and it came up as a BFN! This is the second failed cycle with DE, the embryos are normal, the first embryo implanted but due to low progesterone didn't grow, this round my progesterone was doubled and I just thought it would work!! This is honestly such a hard process, we thought using DE would be far easier.
Has anyone had success after a few attempts with DE?

Hi Debb I havnt had experience of DE but I guess you should wait a bit more and test after 3 days and see as it’s still quite early, good luck and may God bless u Ameen
I agree with shia123, wait a few more days. Don’t forget that even with a day 5 embryo, the time it takes to implant varies with each embryo. Also 8 days post transfer is early to test from everything I’ve read on here. Was your embryo PGT tested? You mentioned it was normal which is why I ask.
Please don’t lose hope. If you can, try to keep yourself busy for the next 3 days and then test again. Treat yourself to something nice/yummy. Xxx
The embryologist and our doctor said it looked normal from what they could see, thinking if this doesn't stick then the next round we will do a PGT test. I have my blood test tomorrow, our clinic test on day 9 so hopefully it comes up as a BFP. the women in our family do tend to have low HCG levels in early pregnancy and I am using my sisters eggs who has fallen pregnant previously. Ahhh its such a tough time for us all. Wishing you lots of baby dust xxx
That sounds like good info and fits the picture, especially if HCG levels run low in the family. I’ve read stories on here of women testing one day and getting a negative but just 12 hours later getting their positive. I also read that some embryos can be a little lazy and take a little longer to develop/hatch.
How wonderful that you’re using your sisters eggs. I’m using a donor too. Feels like we belong to a mini superhero club!
I’ll be thinking of you and crossing everything for the test xxx
We definitely are a mini club. I’m grateful each time I meet another women like me. It’s been lonely journey at times.
We have two frozen embryos and I’m currently waiting for AF to start so I can begin with estrogen tablets. If all goes well, then transfer around 2nd September. I’ve never got this far before. Had 3 OE failed attempts (didn’t fertilise/arrested development) and 1 failed DE cycle where the same thing happened. We had our second DE round, got 10 eggs, only 2 made it to blast. Got them PGS tested and both are normal. So, we’ll see soon... 🤞
Fingers crossed you get your positive test tomorrow. It’s a lengthy process to get through but you just have to keep going and believe you’ll get pregnant. Took me a long time and did lose myself a long the way and was told would not happen. I have one happy child and always wanted two, so thinking of adoption. Big hugs. X
Hi, just read your post and I agree you should wait a few more days and don’t lose hope just yet! I’m a DE mummy after many years of treatment and failed cycles. We had our embryos PGS tested this time and I think that’s partly why we finally had success. I had previous embryos that looked ok, but failed. If you can stretch to it, it’s worth it. But you may not need to. Sending lots of positive vibes to you & hope you get your BFP in a few more days xx
Thank you so much!! I had a BFP last time it was faint but it was there, so just concerned this time. I do however have a lot of pain and have had it all day. So let’s see what tomorrow brings, not out until we are out! Thank you for sharing your story, I love hearing success stories and I think next time we will do the PGS screening of this isn’t a positive xxxx
Hey Deb, I am so so sorry. I was thinking of you this morning and crossing everything. You’re so amazing for already looking forward to the next try. You will get there. But today sucks. I’m so sorry.
Hi Deb, I'm so sorry you had two DE fails - DE is supposed to work, right??!! I think my first DE round has just failed and I'm having some of the same concerns as you about what next. Just wondering what happened at your debrief and what you are going to do next? My eggs are from a 22yo healthy donor. My husband is 45 - can that affect the quality of the embryo too and cause non-PGS normal embryos? My head says, yes of course, but it feels like we're told it's the egg that's the problem. Sending warm wishes and thanks for posting above. xx
Be in. I had a really good talk to the clinic and we are going to use steroids just in case there is an immune issue. They don’t think there is but it can’t hurt. I am the same as you our eggs are from my 25 year old sister and my partner is 35. They really think it’s just all about the right embryo. I just assumed it would work first time but I guess there no certainties.
I am sending you lots of hugs and baby dust. Know you are not alone xxx
I’m so sorry. When we move to donor we expect it to work, don’t we? A completely realistic expectation. What drugs were you on? I’m on a vaginal progesterone gel in the morning, 4mg oestrogen and 200mg progesterone tablets 3x a day. Plus Clexane injection daily. Did you take a steroid or not? Have you had any other tests done such a NK cells? Perhaps some questions to ask when you have your debrief with the clinic. How many embryos do you have left? X
Hi lovely, I know it’s an unrealistic expectation but I had a great meeting with my doctor we are going to do a steroid this round with the clexane injections just in case there is an immune issue. We still have 3 embryos left. Is this your first round? How are you finding it all? Sending you lots of baby dust xx
Great news! Glad your meeting went well and you have a new plan. This is our 2nd attempt. First time we transferred one and sadly it didn’t work. This time we transferred two, at 6 weeks we had twins but by 9 weeks the weaker one had disappeared. We currently have one going strong with 12 week scan next week. Best of luck to you X
Debb and Jengi, so lovely to have a little bit of solidarity at such a difficult time. Do hope you are both ok. Jengi, are you still mid-cycle?
I knew it was only 50/50 to work first time but we got 5 high quality embryos from our donor, my lining was good (eventually!) and it is just so disappointing. I don't mind going through it multiple times except that each time, you risk burning another embryo, not really knowing whether you are solving the problem or not. Or whether there was no problem, but the coin was just tails not heads that time.
It's interesting to hear about the various immune possibilities. I used to be at ARGC and they are v big on immune problems. I always assumed that wouldn't be me with no family issues or previous history of repeat failed IVF/miscarriages. I'm so relunctant to go down this road as I know it's expensive and the science is not really very solid yet but I realise I might have to.
Anyway, OTD on Thurs so still a few days to go before I'm officially 'out' for this round. I had a negative clearblue on 8dp5dt so am assuming that's fairly definitive but obviously would be so delighted to be proved wrong ...
