My partner and I are due to start our IVF journey in a couple of weeks time, we are excited but very nervous too!
We have been offered to pay for an Embryoscope to monitor the eggs very closing whilst they are maturing, it takes thousands of pictures and helps pick out a great embryo! 😁
Have any of you taken this option and if so did you feel it helped?
Any other tips you can provide us with, we would be very grateful!
Good luck to you all on your journeys..... ❤️

I would massively recommend using an embryoscope. We did two rounds without it and two rounds with it and our embryos develop much better both times we used it. I think it’s the best environment you can give them in the lab as they aren’t disturbed at all.
I’ve used it on all my cycles but this last one we were originally going to transfer a higher graded day 5 embryo but after viewing the embryoscope photos our embryologist recommended transferring a Lower graded day 6 instead - I transferred 2 and he said these were the best suited to go in together and I’m now pregnant with twins
Same here, we used the embryo scope and kept a lower grade embryo which we transferred. That gave us our son 2 years ago. Totally recommend it. If you have the money you don’t have anything to lose. Xx
We used twice on first and second cycle, third cycle we didn’t want to pay extra money for nothing.
It made no difference for us in using embryoscope or not. We left only with few seconds of video registered. In my opinion a good embryologist will make the difference ...
I too have been offered this for my first IVF cycle coming up , and I am torn as to whether to do it as it’s a lot of money . Our consultant recommended it to us my AMH is lower than it should be - good luck with whatever you decide xx
My partner and I have discussed it and we feel that as our first cycle is free on the NHS that this is the time to pay the money for the scope to hopefully increase our chances of success. I think our minds are made up on it but I wanted to check with others first on here to see if it was actually beneficial.
Good luck with your journey, I hope it is positive news at the end x
It’s useful I to get other people’s views I’m glad you have come to a decision ! Our round is Nhs too we are very lucky to get 2 rounds in our area , so I wasn’t sure whether to go all in on this round with the embryscope or keep it back for the final go as we can only afford to do it once!, we are going to speak to the nurses about it next month xx thank you and you , best wishes I have everything crossed for you !
I’m with care fertility Chester and they are charging £850 for CareMaps (which is Embryoscope ) And £150 for embryo glue xxx good luck with your cycles
Thanks for your reply ! How have you found it at Chester so far ? I think what I have done is added the cost of caremaps and Embryoscope as I thought you had to have both ( that’s what the consultant suggested anyway ) - something to talk about with the nurses thank you for flagging it up xxx
Hi lovely I'm also on my first and only nhs treatment. I have very low amh for my age ( I'm 37) and my partner has lazy sperm so we had icsi.
We decided to do everything we can to give us the best shot being our only free go. ..can't advise if its helped yet as transfer day tomorrow!. But even if it doesn't work I'll be glad I tried it as I would always wonder etc.
We used it in just one of our cycles but it didn’t make any difference, unfortunately. Whatever you choose to go for, would be the best decision. Good luck on your journey! X
We used it in our cycle. We had 16 fertilised embryos, 12 went in the Embryoscope and 4 didn’t. We ended up with 2 day 5 blasts and these were both in the Embryoscope. I don’t know if it made a difference but for us the decision was for peace of mind that if our IVF journey wasn’t successful we knew we had put everything into it. We just didn’t want to be questioning anything at the end. Xx
Hi Luamber, it sounds like we are at the exact same stage as you! We had our consents signing appt this week and all my drugs are getting delivered Tues ready to start in a couple of weeks. Our first round is also NHS so we have decided if the embryoscope is available on the day then we are going to go for it. To maximise the chances if success on first go. Once we have to start paying I don't think we will be able to afford all the top ups 🙈How are you feeling about starting soon? I'm so excited but definitely nervous too....xx
Yes i know what you mean the wait will be so hard..!
They are starting me on the pill on the first day of my next period for three weeks is i think and then I have a baseline scan and start with menopur injections etc so the embryo transfer all being well will be mid August ish. To be honest I find it all so confusing im defo not a pro like some of the ladies on here I feel like I should know more than I do but I'm just trying to take it all in.
I like your thinking! Yes here's to beginners luck for us 🙂. Hope all goes well and you get your schedule soon 🤞 xx
