One ovary not producing any follicles

Hi ladies,

One of my ovaries is not producing any follicles. Does anyone has some advice on what I can do? Xx

Hi lily, sorry no advice just want to let you know you are not alone, I also have only one ovary producing follicles at the moment ( 3 on left 0 on right ) last baseline scan I had ..hoping it just goes up / down every month but I do have very low AMH for my age so I'm not sure xx

I've had this issue since starting ivf. My left ovary is almost dormant then randomly it became the dominant one out of nowhere just for a month. I was told it's normal for one ovary to be more dominant each cycle. As long as you have one ovary with follicles I wouldn't worry too much.

Problem is the other one is not producing much. When you say dormant, was it producing nothing for several cycles? Xx

Yes. It wasn't doing anything for ages. My other ovary usually only has 1-2 follicles. I've had natural ivf as no amount of hormones change that.

Sounds very similar to me. Did you do anything to wake up the dormant ovary?

I didn't realise there was anything I could do? My doctor said that each month your body chooses which ovary will be dominant and then pushes the nutrients to that ovary. I'm over 40 now with a very low AMH and I only have natural IVF as no amount of drugs I took made any difference to the number of eggs. In fact I think that the egg quality was reduced by using extra meds.
