I've been advised today out fertility clinic has reopened.

I have my first appointment booked in for the end of May but wondered how long it tended to be between the initial consultation and starting Ivf.

It all depends on if you're nhs or private.

I think nhs can be 6-8 months but obviously there will be a backlog now.

Private, mine was next period so 2 weeks x

Hey Lavandartea, it depends if you’re NHS or private. Mines private and started treatment on the period after the treatment plan so 2/3 wks xx

Is your appointment for a consultation or treatment plan?

In that case, are you supposed to abstain from sex in the fertile window before the period is due?

I’m going for a first appointment too at the end of May and I’m hoping to start as soon as possible too. 2 weeks? Wow that’s quick!

Depends on nhs or private....plus tests they recommend you to do. Nhs took few wks to months we had first apt in May and did transfer in august...drug protocols are longer close to 1.5 months. If private quicker you do the tests or if referred to another specialist quicker they have apts quicker you can start. If you've had failed attempts previously...take time to do recommended tests...if not you can start asap. You can have short or long drug protocols we had short with private...was a week of stimulation meds so much quicker. Good luck
