Did anyone else experience a cancelled cycle due to 'poor response'?

Did anyone else experience a cancelled cycle due to poor response to their protocol?

Did your clinic charge you a cancellation fee? I had this experience at my last clinic and I thought it seemed a bit unethical to charge this... talk about kick a girl when she's down. Also seems a little odd as any 'poor response' surely can't be all our fault, the clinic should take some responsibility with the protocol?....it's not like we would choose to cancel!

Anyway was just interested to gauge whether this is a common experience for people to be charged a cancelation fee. I feel like it shouldn't be allowed and we should rally the HFEA. It's been playing on my mind as it happened to me twice, my doctor didn't want to charge it but the clinic billing/admin team sure did!

I got a cycle cancelled due to over-response (risk of OHSS), I didn't want to cancel it I was very upset! Actually in my next cycle almost all of my follicles were empty anyway. Thankfully they didn't charge me any cancellation fee, I already paid in full and they just kept my money until I was ready for the next cycle.

Though thinking about it I wasted the money for all all those medications, the time, etc. Plus I had to pay a lot for some extra monitoring scans because of my 'risk' (which I didn't even want)! These clinics do need to take responsibility for choosing the wrong protocol. Once I had been cancelled I realised they could have handled my protocol so much better as I already have clearly known issues. Sometimes I think some clinics just take advantage because once we are at the stage of doing transfers, it can be quite daunting to switch or delay treatments to another clinic, we are very vulnerable at that stage and I believe they know it. Rant over!! xx

When my cycle in November was cancelled due to poor response I didn’t get charged. I only paid for the drugs up to this point. I did wonder later on about this as essentially meant 3 scans for me, albeit with a nurse, that were not charged for.
