Synarel anyone?

Hi, I have just been prescribed Synarel nasal spray to gear me up for implantation.

Has anyone got experience with it? I have just taken my first dose and it’s run down the back of my throat leaving a taste so bad I had to drink water in an effort to wash it down. I feel like I must have done it wrong somehow 😬.

I was on it for my FET and had the same problem. I actually found that if I drank water it seemed to spread it around and make the taste worse so I tried to resist doing that until the taste went away. I tried different ways of sniffing it but tended to have the same issue every time. I thought I might be doing it wrong but it worked so it must have still been fine. It is pretty nasty stuff but hopefully you don’t have to use it too long. I was so relieved when it was over! Best of luck with your cycle!

Hi Danniss. Oh dear - not nice! Just blow your nose before squirting the Synarel. The drug is absorbed very quickly by the lining of your nose, so any surplus that drains down your throat is not a worry, except for the taste. Good luck! Diane

I am currently using this and it’s awful! When we’re you told to stop taking it? I’ve got an appointment tomorrow to check my lining but hopefully it’s soon!

Hi it works really well but it the nasal spray caused a cyst which made it difficult to see the eggs behind it. They didn't drain the cyst because it was just a small one.

But it depends on your body as you might react differently to it. It might be absolutely fine for you. X

Ooh no that is not ideal! Where you using it pre egg collection then? I am on it to gear me up for my FET

Hi i am using it before and after my embryo transfer. I dont know why i need to take synarel after my embryo transfer and not progesterone?

I used it right from the beginning. I didn't even get to egg collection .

I got to stop my nasal spray last night!! Weirdly I only had to take it for 5 days, just on my pessaries and progynova until transfer day on Tuesday!
