Prep for first appointment at IVF clinic

We have our very first appointment at the IVF clinic tomorrow and wondered what sort if questions they would be asking?

Hi Daxie!

We have our first ivf appointment in January so not too far apart. I was referred from my gynae consultant at my local infertility clinic who said at our first appointment they'll go through our medical history, do weight & height, ask us to do carbon monoxide test to check for Tobacco smoking, possibly ultrasound/scan and they'd talk through our situation. Not sure if every CCG is slightly different on their process! I'm sure others who have been through the process will stop by to share their experience 🙂 how are you feeling for your appointment? Xx

I have been a totally mess tbh leading up to the appointment! Just scared of the whole process and realising this is the start of our journey. But now it's nearly heard and the night before I'm kinda of excited! Dreading starting the hormones as I am already feeling up and down with emotions! Lol

That's so good that you're feeling a little excited tonight. How you've been feeling is totally normal given the circumstances. I always find that information and choice, for me feels more in control so having your appointment tomorrow and the opportunity to ask questions and to talk through your options will hopefully feel really empowering. That's what I'm hoping for from our January appointment anyway! Hope it goes well tomorrow 🙂 xx

Just thought I would let you on own our appointment went well and came out feeling positive. Lots of information and felt a little overwhelmed with it all! But basically they discussed a draft plan of all the things which will be happening over the next couple of months!

Hi again, thanks so much for the update. That's brilliant to hear you came away from the appointment feeling positive ❤ did they give you an indication of timescales for you starting meds/treatment? I have always done fairly well with the wait but see since we've had this official date in the diary, it feels like the wait is never-ending xx

Yes I know exactly that feeling! But its January tomorrow and not too much longer to wait now! ❤

They said I can start on my next cycle which started today! So have to go back to the clinic day 6-10 x

😯 that soon?! Oh my goodness. I got butterflies reading that - very exciting. I don't want to get my hopes up but if they'll be able to start us that soon I think I'll cry with happiness 🥺 I know it's just the start of our journeys but exciting all the same. Very cool we are possibly going to be starting treatment around the same time xx

I know I'm glad in a way to.get started! We booked up our next appointments yesterday 9th and 13th January!

That's brilliant you've got some more dates in the diary and something to focus on. My appointment is 5 days away now (not that I'm counting) 😂
