I am on my second medical cycle. The timelines will be dependent on your cycle length, but mine were as follows:

-Day 2 scan

-Day 2-6 oral medication

-Day 11 scan

-Day 13 trigger shot

-Day 14 IUI procedure

...then you have the delight of the two week wait to see if it has worked! Good luck 😀

Oh thank you for this. So was this from the first day of your period?

I am being so selfish but wish it was all going to be after Christmas. Would like a stress free a Christmas !!

Yes from the 1st day of your period. Could you not request it be after Christmas?

On the plus side at least it means you might have more time off work to relax over the festive period.

My pre treatment consultation actually falls on the first day of my period so maybe they’ll take it from next cycle.

Did you need time off work? I did IVF earlier this year and was off for 2 months, it killed me xx

Same happened for me on my first cycle....they gave me a choice whether I wanted to start straight away or go the following month. Just do whatever feels least stressful.

I only took the day of the transfer off, as our consultant said we should just continue as normal as much as possible. He said it wouldn’t really make any difference to the success rate if I just sat around for the 2WW.

Can I ask why you are going from IVF->IUI? We are thinking we might have to go onto IVF from IUI if this 3rd cycle isn’t a success.

My IVF failed due to no eggs being collected, when we had our consultation after it, they advised us our only hope was donor eggs which isn’t an option we want to explore.

Consultant then offered IUI - think the reasoning behind it is it’s a free cycle and we may as well. But I am so stressed because when the IVF failed I had sort of come to terms with it all and now this - but have to give it a go.

How many IUI will you get? Fingers crossed xxx

We are only eligible for 1 cycle on the NHS, but the waiting list is so long that we have been funding the IUI privately up until now.

The prospect of is spending a a HUGE amount of money on a round of IVF is very stressful in itself!

Isn’t it crazy how different NHS areas offer different cycles - we get 1 free IVF and 4 free IUI!

Iui is just as heart breaking when it fails my last two attempts have failed and I’m completely heart broken .We have a 3rd one left on a private cycle we paid for but I’m waiting till the new year to have my review to see if we want to go onto ivf straight away .None if this journey is easy it’s emotionally destroyed me and I’m just trying to get strong again mentally to carry on .When I have good egg reserve my partner has a great sperm count and my only issue is I suffer severe vaginismus so god knows what the future holds but I wish you all the very best and I hope whole heartedly it works for you xxx

I suffer from that too although it’s not as bad as it used to be as I went to counselling and it really helped.

My egg reserve is rubbish as well which isn’t a good mix!

Ah I hope it all works out for you xxx
