I think it means your progesterone level was really low on day 21 you wouldn’t have ovulated. And they want to check your cycle day incase it was wrong.
If collected 7 days before menstruation it means you haven’t ovulated. Have you had this test performed before? Xx
Yes I’ve had it done the month before aswell , and it says no further action to be taken aswell
My period isn’t a 28 cycle it’s usually 32
Day 21 and it came back inconclusive then I don’t understand why they do a blood test around that time If you don’t have a 28 day cycle xx
No it should be 7 days before date of first period. So if your cycle is 32 days you should to the test on day 25. Xxx
I have started using ovulation sticks to pin point when I am using them three times a day throughout the whole month , it’s a very stressful process xx
Hello! I had issues with progesterone tests previously. You need to pinpoint the actual date of ovulation for the test to be any use. Whenever you get your positive OPK I would ask for the test 8-9 days after.
I will discuss it with the doctor today as it says no further action needed and that’s not right . They can’t just fob me off like that xx
I ended up having to buy my tests off the internet for £25 a go because they wouldn’t do it for me anymore. Im glad I did as it was very useful for me and the NHS even has the cheek to use the results when doing investigations
Jaygee I've also been having nightmares getting my "day 21" on the right day. I'm going to try 8-9 days after a positive opk like you suggested. Can I ask which one you get off the internet? Mine was £39 so would be good to get a cheaper one.
I've done 3 this month; day 19, 21 and 22! But according to your 8-9 day thing they're too early (I have 25 - 28 day cycles with a short luteal phase.) It's confusing because some people say 7 days after ovulation and some say 7 days before the period - which is right?
I say 8-9 after OPK as you don’t ovulate the day of the positive OPK so most people it’s the day after. My luteal phase is 12 days so 7 days before period again would not work for me. If you had a positive OPK on a Monday you will potentially ovulate the Tuesday or Wednesday so I’d go by that and do the test the following Tuesday or Wednesday. This worked really well for me. It’s via a website called oxford pharmacy. I haven’t done it for a while due to ivf so it may have gone up. The results usually came back 3 days after sending it back to them.
How many did they do for you xx
Roaeyanne they all differ in what they'll give. Mine have given me 3 and the rest I've done online. Ive noticed at the hospital and GP they all automatically say to do it on day 21 and I've had to be the one that says "I've read that if you're cycle isn't 28 days / if you don't ovulate on day 14 you have to do it on another day, can you check?" And then they check and say yes - 7 days after ovulation / 7 days before period, not day 21. I think the consultant knows this, but not the person booking you in for the blood test. From what I've read the progesterone levels can vary wildly from one day to the next so getting the right day for the test for your own personal cycle is important.
Hope you get better news next time and it'll show higher progesterone. If your worst fears come true and it turns out that you aren't ovulating don't be discouraged - they can prescribe clomid which brings on ovulation. Good luck x
Hope your talk with the Dr was encouraging. Long cycles can be hard to negotiate. Different set of rules for the 28day gals. Until you get some answers have you looked into diet changes. Imsure lve read success stories of women doing AMH diet and cutting out sugar and having good outcomes. Just a thought.
I’ve had the test done on cd21 on a 25 day cycle then 7 days after results came back abnormal. Which at the time I had told them it needs to be done on cd18.
I had another one done mths later on cd18 but my cycle had lengthened to 28 I ovulated in cd14 but didn’t matter anyway result was normal and I conceived that cycle.
Hey ladies , I spoke to the doctor ( one thing I dislike about my doctors is your highly likely to speak to one you have spoken to before and mentioned again about I don’t have a 28 cycle so they have rebooked for more bloods for Around 24/25 days xx
