Did anyone have these done, what was the result What did treatment did you receive as a result
Day 21 bloods: Did anyone have these... - Fertility Network UK
Day 21 bloods
Hi! Mine all came back clear so didn't need any treatment. I believe people who aren't ovulating during fertility treatment can access something called Clomid but to be honest, as we didn't need anything investigated further in terms of 21 day bloods.. I stopped researching it as I'm definitely ovulating. Once they know this is or isn't the case, I guess they try to offer treatment or suggest further investigations.. I think I ended up having a transvaginal scan and ultrasound scan after bloods were clear and then was referred onto a Gynacologist not long after those results came back again clear! Xx
So you don't need ivf?
I have pcos, so it's complex I think
Hi! Yes I'm awaiting a laparoscopy first because my infertility could be linked to possible endometriosis. The only way of diagnosing this is with a laparoscopy so awaiting this surgery to take place before a referral onto IVF is processed. I've always had potential endo symptoms though so this isn't really linked into part of the general checks the GP does.. it's more that I should have had it looked into years ago and only now that so much time has passed, I thought it should be taken more seriously prior to IVF. I don't want to just jump straight into IVF if there is endometriosis present because it will be a waste of a treatment and more chance of it working once endo has been removed - if it is endo!
They may offer you a tube test before an IVF referral if your bloods are all OK. This is to check that your tubes aren't blocked so not sure if you have had that done.. may be called an HSG test or something? They're doing mine while I'm under anaesthetic having the laparoscopy but you can have it done without a full anaesthetic I believe xx
Day 21 tests are a standard early test to check your peak progesterone levels after ovulation. The GP won't be able to offer treatment based on these results but will refer you to a fertility specialist if they are of concern X
I had over 30 of these trying to chase an ovulation. It's an indicator you are ovulating. When I got to the fertility clinic they said the GP ead the results wrong and should never have done that many. It was all a big panic over nothing and a massive waste of NHS money. Even if those results are the pits it won't stop you having successful IVF but it may indicate you may struggle to conceive naturally.
Hi Pumkins. All these hormone tests can be very confusing. Are you wanting to confirm ovulation, or are you also wanting to investigate Progesterone levels? Do you use OPKs and see a peak each month? Do you have a short luteal phase (e.g 10/11 days or less?).
I’ve just got mine back.
They tested my progesterone levels to check I’m ovulating - 56nmol was the answer I got. Not sure if this is good or bad!
Xx
My test is back 21. I am ovulating but the quality is diminishing
What should I do
Anything over 10 means ovulation, so you know your ovulating.
You can get progesterone supplements for conception - at your consultants discretion but they may have other ideas on how you can increase this I.e Clomid with progesterone supplements ?
Or, you can try and do it naturally by changing diet etc. Xx
What can I eat or take to improve quality
Ones that contain more magnesium, vitamin b6 and zinc.
Dark chocolate
Nuts
Tofu
Avocado
Legumes
Fish
Eggs
Milk
Carrots
Shellfish
Seeds
Whole grains
Vegetables
Yogurt
Xx
this will improve the quality of my eggs?
I’m sure improving your overall health and well-being will have a positive effect but I’m not a fertility doctor. I can only advise based on my experience with a similar situation.
Stress is a major influence on hormones according to my acupuncturist. However, I guess factors such as age, overall health will play a part in it somewhere.
I totally know how you feel, I was once told my progesterone was low (possibly got the timing wrong as cycles were all over) but it’s not anymore and I have regular cycles again. I don’t know what caused it and I do t know what fixed it either but i still can’t conceive.
X
Tell me your story - do you have PCOS? as I do? how long have you been trying? what have you had procedure wise
I was told I had pcos and low progesterone.
Had a lap 2017 they found mild endometriosis on one ovary and the back of my womb. They removed it and my periods are much better, I feel better and I think I’m doing ok.
I had a baby in 2012 but haven’t been able to conceive since.
Just had my progesterone done again this month and it’s gone from like 29 to 56! Although saying that, my cycles were all over before.
No tablets, nothing.
I had a bfp in October after treatment, but sadly miscarried 4 weeks later. So I’m going to have it again and fx it all works out this time.
If not I’m just going to forget it, I’ve had enough of wasting time and money on this. If it doesn’t work out, perhaps it’s for the best xx
I was under the impression that these kits were unreliable for pcos
How old are you?
When you have time look up Sharon Marshall this morning presenter.
She had 7 rounds ivf at a cost of 70.000
