Hi, after my first transfer was so difficult I have been told I need to have a dilation op for the next one. They said that it’s a minor op under general anaesthetic. It lasts for up to 3 months.
Has anyone else had this procedure done and did they get a positive result on your next transfer.
I did get pregnant with the difficult transfer but it resulted in miscarriage.
Thanks

I had a dilation under GA after a tricky transfer, apparently difficult tranfers can cause problems with contractions which may not allow the embryos to stick around. I had a bit of a nightmare after that as my thyroid went haywire after that so didnt get the benefit. Since then I have always transferred after being given an injection of buscopan into my bum to relax my muscles which has helped me considerably - we did do a mock transfer to ensure all was ok though. I have managed to get BFP's afterwards but sadly they didnt stick. xx
Thank you for your reply, fingers crossed you get your bfp next time. They had to clamp my cervix 5 times last time and it was so painful so I’m praying that once I have this it will help. I’m booked in for the 5th November xx
Oh best of luck to you, Ive had mine clamped once and it wasnt the best I have to admit! You could always ask if you could try a mock transfer - a practice transfer to see how it goes and ask if you can try buscopan injection for future transfers.....I think that for me has been a godsend!xx
Hi Miraclebaby. Oh dear, that's a nuisance for you, but in my experience, we had quite a number of ladies who had to have a dilatation prior to IVF. Best to get it sorted for an easier embryo transfer. Good luck! Diane
