App with the Fertility Doctor today but waiting for Punch Biopsy results

I mentioned last week that I was waiting to hear from the hospital regarding a further examination on my cervix following an abnormal smear test at my GP.

I was called in quite quickly and the nurse was very considerate and understanding of our situation. She took a Punch Biopsy and said once they were back from the lab she would discuss it with the consultant. It can go either two ways:

CIN 2- they can be left and further investigated after I have had a baby.

CIN3- they will take a loop which will leave me with scar tissue and make my womb tighter.

I’ve been so bogged down with everything that has happened at work that I’ve not allowed myself to think about the results. But today we have our appointment with the Doctor at the fertility clinic to discuss my Protocol.

I’ve got to tell him what has been said by the hospital, despite me not wanting to, and I’m expecting that they won’t touch me until it’s all sorted!

We were meant to start in a couple of weeks as that’s when my next period is due!

If I get some positive news today I will be cartwheeling out of there!

I’m currently signed off with work stress and anxiety so I could possibly do treatment whilst not having to worry about going to work.

The nurse at the hospital told me “Maybe there is a reason you can’t start before Christmas.” I thought she was right. After what happened at work that same day I realised my body is in pieces.

Anyone got any advice?

I had to have tissue removed from the cervix after an abnormal smear. Had to wait 6 months and have a clear colposcopy before Dr would 'allow' me to continue ttc. At just turned 38 those 6 months were precious but as she explained to me, during pregnancy your immune system is lower, it has to be to permit a foreign body i.e. the baby, to grow so it's best to get something like this cleared up before doing IVF and hopefully falling pregnant. It's so disappointing but, in the long run, it's for the best. I really hope yours doesn't require the surgery but if it does, then it's lucky it was caught before you potentially get pregnant, although you can't see it that way just at the moment. I know there've been a lot of setbacks and you have yet to start treatment but keep your chin up hon xxx

I’m not expecting the doctor to say they can go ahead. So if they surprise me then il go with it.

I actually looking at finding another job so I think everything will fall into place and happen when it is supposed to. I have been at a place of work where I have so unhappy for over 2 years with ttc being my priority but I’ve decided that my priority now is to be happy and healthy x

I’ve have CIN 2 results before and had the loop treatment, resulting in tighter cervix. I haven’t started treatment yet but the consultant said they will be doing a test transfer to check the cervix still allows the catheter to pass without complications. If it doesn’t, they can do something (not sure what as wasn’t thinking clearly to ask) but they def said it could be resolved. The test transfer might be problem free yet, but good to know they can ‘fix’ it.

I hope you’re not waiting too long! X
