Light spotting after BFP

Hi All, looking for comfort.

Got my BFP and am now currently 5 weeks .... today I’ve been having cramps that feel like period pains (sometimes quite sharp twinges like stitch) and also some light bleeding when I wipe (very light though; have to stare when I look red/brown blood).

Is this normal after a positive or should I be ringing my clinic?

Without being gross my bowels are very up and down today too which hasn’t helped with the pain in my stomach - I’ve read this is normal though.

Thanks xx

Light bleed is normal but make sure it's not heavy....do inform your Doctor about this

Period type pains are completely normal and so are twinges because everything starts adjusting and accommodating pretty much straight away.. Spotting isn’t necessarily a cause for concern and is actually quite common but raise it with your clinic to be on the safe side xx

I also had a light bleed in my 5th week and had a scan at 6 weeks and then again at 7 weeks and all was fine with a little heartbeat. Currently waiting on my 12 week scan to see that everything is still ok.

Can you contact your clinic and ask them to book you in for a 6 week scan? That way it will help put your mind at rest.

Hope you're ok. A bleed doesn't necessary mean bad news. Keep positive and try your best to relax and take things easy. xx

It can mean nothing and everything. I would just wait and see what happens the following days. At five weeks they might not be able to see anything on a scan anyway, and they can't do anything to stop it if it's the unfortunate situation of a beginning mc. If there is no "progress" in bleeding and cramping after a couple of weeks you could scedule a scan, but I wouldn't do anything but wait and see before 6-7 weeks. I hope for you that this is nothing to worry about ❤ Keep us posted ❤

Hi shinyhalo1,

Just didn't want to read and pass but also to let you know that am currently 4weeks plus. I have been experiencing same spotting like you described for the past 4days now, have to look closely before i can see it when i wipe.

No cramps at the moment which is reassuring and also I tends to drink lots of water and relax my mind in bed as this happens each time I stress out.

So have faith in God as I definitely do and believe with faith nothing shall happen to our young.

Good luck on your journey x

Did you end up having a healthy pregnancy?

Hi,

Period type pains are completely normal because you're uterus starts stretching.

Light bleeding/Spotting does not necessarily mean something is wrong.

In my case, there were times were light bleeding/spotting were a sign of ectopic or miscarriage. But my latest experience is positive. I'm 22 weeks pregnant and I had episodes of spotting and bleeding from week 5 till week 14. My twins are doing fine. :)

I would advise you to contact your clinic just to be sure everything is alright. Also try to rest as much as you can.

Good luck!

xx

Totally normal but say to a professional anyway. I had quite a heavy bleed early on and I’m totally fine. It’s incredibly common but always scary! You can always pay for a private early scan if you’re worried or ask for one. x

Iv had spotting and a gush of bleeding since 5 weeks onwards I am now 8 weeks and still occasionally get brown discharge!

Iv always rang my clinic. If it’s red blood anyway.

I had spotting brown and once pink from around 5 to 7ish weeks, nurse said that pregnancy gets in all your nooks and crannies! I actually worried when it went 😂 Scan showed no cause. Little tot is doing just fine at 10+5 🙂 xxx
