Can't get hold of Gonal-f

Hi

I've just been to ASDA to get my gonal-f and have been told there are manufacturer issues so they don't have it and advised I will find it difficult to find it elsewhere - yikes!

I normally use ASDA as it's the least expensive and easy. I think last time it was about £250 per box (900 IU/1.5ml).

Has anyone bought any very recently (like, the last week or two) and can share which pharmacy they got it from that wasn't at an extortionate price?

Help! :-)

Didn't know how to cancel the post so I replied to myself!

Seems my local ASDA were wrong, I have found another ASDA with no issues with supply so I will be going to them tomorrow morning :-)

Price has gone up to £338 per box though but that seems as cheap as I can get it. Darn these rising costs!!

Each ASDA will use their own preferred supplier. I came across this when I got my drugs from them. It won’t be that the ASDA made a mistake, it will be that there is an option with another supplier but it’s more expensive.

Get a quote from Stork (online company) before you buy as although you pay £45 for the dispensing and delivery, the drugs are often much cheaper.

Good luck!

Thanks for that, I have emailed Stork so we will see what they come back with. My local ASDA gave me quite a fright as they made it sound like I wouldn't get it anywhere but it would seem not to be the case!

I had the same issue. The pharmacist said what often happens is the suppliers forget to update their online system to allow orders when they get stock in. My ASDA pharmacist would call the supplier which prompted them to update the system. Providing you’re not in a desperate rush and can wait a few weeks, they always managed to sort it for me.

Stork have been great recently with other drugs (I’m now doing donor rounds) and the drugs from them are significantly cheaper than what ASDA quoted. Stork always put it out on next day delivery so it’s quick and I’ve never experienced stocking issues.

Thanks for your response - I didn't realise it was a thing that happened!!!

I got a response from Stork this morning (good that it was so quick) but they actually come in at the same price as ASDA (£338 per box) plus £65 delivery so I will be leaving shortly to go get the drags from alternative ASDA. I guess it depends which meds you need as to whether there is a saving to be had. The lady in my local ASDA said categorically that they couldn't get Gonal-f, even if they can really it isn't worth the headache!

Best of luck with your donor rounds x
