When did you have a viability scan?

I've just done my second test and it is positive. I need to wait until Thursday to do another 1 as that is the day my clinic has told me to do my second test....I did it a bit early!!!!

I'm just wondering how many weeks people were when they had their viability (hate that name) scan? I've read anything from 5-7 weeks, just wanted to know when to expect it. Also not getting any better at waiting!!

Hi LB. the safe earliest test is done at 6 weeks. I always preferred 7 weeks, as you are more certain to see the heartbeat clearly. Up to your clinic really. Good luck. Diane

Thank you Diane. That's good to know. I will just have to be a little more patient. x

Hi. Indeed. It will soon pass, then you get to meet your little “ bean”, so exciting. Diane

It is super exciting and at the same time one of the most scary things I have ever done. It's definitely an adventure! x

I was 7+3 on my first cycle and will be 7+5 this time (next week). The wait is torture 🙈😂 xx

I will keep in mind that mine might be at the same sort of time then I will be surprised if it is earlier. Not going to be the easiest thing to do though! Fingers crossed it's sooner rather than later. x

I was 6+3 and we saw the heartbeat. Now a looong wait for the standard NHS scan which can be anywhere from 9-14 weeks!

Interesting that yours was quite early on. I guess the earlier you have the first scan the longer there is to wait for the '12 week' scan. I might have to get a private scan in between!

Yes, we’re thinking the same, especially as I miscarried around 8/9 weeks last year.

For peace of mind I think it's a good idea to do a private one but they aren't cheap. Also it's difficult to know where is the best place to go as there seem to be so many. Good luck this time. xx

My OTD is Thursday too. I called the clinic and sent them my strong positive pics but they still said I need to another on Thursday morning and call them. They don’t even do bloods early 😩 and they said only if I have any bleeding they will do that. I’ve had 2 MC in the past so waiting 7 weeks is long, I get they can’t see much before but would be nice to have my bloods done to check the levels. Congrats :) xx

I feel for you as you have suffered a miscarriage previously. Maybe it's due to them not being able to see much before 6-7 weeks. I wish you all the best this time. Sending lots to love and positivity. X

I was booked for 6+4 with my clinic but due to a bleed they scanned a day early. They saw everything clearly including 2 strong heartbeats x

Mine was closer to 7. I think 7 + 3. To be honest, although the wait was hard, I'm glad they made us wait as there's a stronger chance of seeing a heartbeat the more developed it is. It was incredible and I still have the pictures even though that embryo is now a 20 month old boy!!

Wishing you the best of luck!

That's such a lovely story! Looks like it's going to be about 7 weeks from what everyone is saying. Thank you! Xx

Hi, I had my scan on Sat at 6+3. Saw the heartbeat. Next scan is 17th when I’ll be 7+6. There’s always the next milestone to cross. I anticipate feeling much more reassured after the 12 week scan. Good luck...x

There are so many milestones but I guess I have to remind myself that I've already passed so many with surgery and injections etc. Good luck to you too. Xx

I've got a date for my scan, it's on 24 September. Seems like a long time away but it's nice to have a date in to focus on. I will be approximately 6+4 on that day. xx

Sorry didn’t realised I’d replied before 🙈. I’m twiddling my fingers today..haha!

Very exciting to have a date now and hopefully you’ll see the heartbeat. It’s truly an amazing experience. Brings it all to life a little bit.x

hehe! no worries! always nice for someone to comment even if they have done before. It will be amazing if we hear the heartbeat. I had 2 embryos put back in so I can't wait to see if there are 2 there or one! As long as they/it is healthy I don't care how many there are. Let me know how your next scan goes! xx

Good luck to you too! I am so happy how things are going at the moment and I just have to hope they will keep going along this path. Trying to be as positive as possible as I don't currently have a reason not to be! xx
