Orgasm or no orgasm during the 2ww šŸ¤”

Hi everyone,

This might be a slightly random post but Iā€™ve been reading lots of articles (as you do after transfer) and Iā€™ve read differing opinions on whether itā€™s safe to have an orgasm or not during the 2ww.

What does everyone think? Does anyone believe that it helps with implantation?

Xx

Hello,

Iā€™m 8 weeks 2 days pregnant and I masturbated twice during the two week wait. This is a tricky subject to get any clear advice on and I wouldnā€™t want to recommend either way. All I can say is that in my experience, it hasnā€™t had a detrimental affect and implantation obviously happened. I read some scare-mongering article online about the contractions from orgasm having a bad affect, but other sources online said it was healthy and safe. The nurse at our fertility clinic advised against intercourse and said to avoid having sex until after 12 week scan. She did however say that this is not because it could cause miscarriage, but rather that it can lead to bleeding which would cause unnecessary worry and stress.

Hope that helps a little? X

Hey, so I was told unequivocally not to have sex (well unprotected sex) during the whole cycle and after embryo transfer (during the 2 week wait) is a definite no no for sex and masturbation. I laughed when they said no to masturbation - and when I asked why they replied because the contraption of the muscles during an orgasm can dislodge the embryo - But thatā€™s just recommendations of my clinic. I know other clinics donā€™t have a problem with it - which is so weird! Xx

My clinic say no sex after transfer.....the leaflet actually says "Vaginal rest - nothing in the vagina: no tampons, no sexual relations of any kind until otherwise specified". I have never taken the risk but have seen other ladies get BFP's after having intercourse so who knows!xx

I found that I had no choice during 2WW and early pregnancy, I had at least 4/5 spontaneous orgasms while sleeping. I remember waking up worried that something may have dislodged but I'm 17 weeks now so it can't have done any harm for me šŸ˜‚x

We were told it was fine to have sex during 2ww, but we waited until a week in.

My printout said no sex, but my doctor recommended it on the date of the transfer or the next one (canā€™t remember), as she said sperm can act as a glue. She said there were some recent studies that showed this could help, but there is nothing 100% proven yet. We were a bit afraid, did it and I had no orgasm. However, I had 2 spontaneous orgasms during the 2ww and was a bit worried. I am now 29 weeks pregnant. Donā€™t know if the sex or orgasms helped, but donā€™t seem to have hurt :) xx
