Again I've started bleeding 5 days earlier than my period is due. Last month lasted two weeks and I fear this is the same again. Doctor's appointment booked for tomorrow but seriously worried she's just going to say: 'Sometimes these things happen'. It isn't normal for me and I'm worried that something is wrong with me. Has anyone had this before?

Second month of early bleeding
HI, A good friend of mine had a 28 day cycle on the spot for 2 years, then she started TTC and all of a sudden her cycles shortened to 23/24 days and were messed up. It sounds horrible but our minds do have a huge influence on our body. I am not a doctor, but I guess that yes indeed it can happen especially when you are worried. But it is always better to keep asking your doctor and talk with her about your worries! xx
When i came off of the pill i was having 30 day cycles straight away. When i found out that there were issues with conceiving (cue stress) i had a 75 day cycle! Stress really does impact everything. Try not to worry and hopefully the Dr will be able to suggest something. Do you get any symptoms before it starts? Xx
^ did you friend use birth control? Maybe why it was a regular 28 days, coming off your period would go to its natural rhythm.
Bleeding for 2w isn’t normal maybe hormonal imbalance. See what the dr says
Weirdly over the past 8 or so cycles, I always start spotting about 5 days before my period is due. Then the proper period starts on time but the whole thing lasts about 2 weeks. The doctor gave me progesterone pessaries to help (which it did) as they think my body isn’t producing enough. X
Am I right to think you’re about to undergo endometriosis investigations?
I have this too- I would always get pre period spotting 4 days before my period was due. I have endometriosis which grows on my pouch of Douglas, uteroscaral ligaments and rectum. It can be a symptom of endometriosis.
Definitely good idea to see a dr tho I used to get bleeding between periods any bleeding outside cycles should definitely be medically investigated.
Good luck with your GPS appointment I hope it goes well xoxo
I had a gynae appointment and the doctor said that IVF in most cases will bypass endometriosis. He agreed that I have symptoms but wanted to see how IVF went before thinking about a laparoscopy.
Not sure I agree with that as endometriosis can sometimes affect fertility depending on where it grows & the severity of the disease.
If I had gone ahead with ivf & didn’t have a fertility dr offer me the choice of keep trying, self funded ivf or lap & dye it would’ve failed & I would’ve been heartbroken by it.
I would personally advise a lap before ivf so you know it has the best chance of working.
Also you need to know what is causing the symptoms you are having xoxo
Thanks for your replies. I had my appointment with my GP this morning and she said, like I feared, that it was nothing to worry about and that IVF will bypass any cycle issues. She then told me (meaning well) that we have been quite quick through the process. To me it's been excruciatingly long and God knows how much longer, the process will be.
But I know lots of women have had such a long journey so I suppose she is right.
And to top it all off I had to see a friend who is 17 weeks pregnant on her first go. Something she is very open about 😢
I think so many people, including my own doctor, think IVF will fix everything when in actual fact the odds aren't great. 🙄
I sound like such a negative Nellie today!!
I am so sorry she wasn’t supportive that’s not what you needed 😢 Can you see another doctor & express your concerns over your symptoms & perhaps state you are not just worried over just the fertility side but your overall health- I had to sell it like that before the GP would refer me for a general gynae ( I got discharged from first fertility clinic trying or ivf & we Won’t fund it) it all worked out well & the gynae got me to my fertility doctor who was able to diagnose my endometriosis which caused the symptoms & infertility. With the right treatment of my endometriosis I had my daughter.
I would write down all the symptoms that are worrying you, take someone else with you & see another GP. It’s all too easy for women’s issues to be so easily dismissed. Get a referral to a gynae who can do a lap or get a GP to write a letter to your fertility doctor over concern with your symptoms that need to be investigated.
Once you feel stronger come back fighting, sadly we sometimes have to fight to get listened to I know you are strong & you can do this ❤️xoxo
