Going again in August...🤞we have better luck this time.

So I spoke with our consultant in Madrid this morning. He said the donor that was used in our cancelled cycle yesterday was aged 18! Does that not seem a bit young!? Anyway she had proven fertility as she has donated previously and someone had a successful outcome. He can't give a reason why it hasn't worked but said that actually on day three there was higher than normal fragmentation, unlike what we were told by the embryologist who said everything looked normal. We have a different person who is our contact now regarding keeping us informed and updated as the language barrier with the embryologist had been a problem. We are going again and thankfully have not been charged for the failed cycle. They have already emailed to say a new donor has been found and her egg collection is the 8th August. How can it be so fast? Do the donor's not have to have weeks of medication?? Anyone any idea?

Anyway, fingers crossed we have success soon. I never thought I would be worried about getting to transfer with a donor but I suppose it's positive they only want to transfer back the highest quality embryos.

Thanks for listening and you're invaluable support xxx

Hi, we used donor eggs and our donor is 20. She had 9 eggs collected and we got 3 blastocysts. Transferred 1 and froze the other 2. I think it’s about 2 weeks for the donor for stimulation until collection but maybe slightly different depending on clinic drugs protocols. Wishing you the best of luck this time round 🤞

It does seem fast but maybe she started a few days ago? I only stimmed for 10 days before egg collection and I didn't need to do anything prior to starting the cycle. Wow who is considering egg donation at 18 years old? I guess the younger the better? Thank goodness we have people willing to go through this as it isn't fun. Money must be good and maybe knowing they are helping people too....best of luck. Will you be having an ERA or any other uterine tests to ensure you are transferring at the right time?

No we've not been told about any uterine tests like that. Have you had those? X

No not yet. We're about to do our very first transfer (a fet) so if that fails I'll definitely explore era etc because they've been.pgs tested we know it wouldn't be a chromosomal abnormality so it'll likely be uterine or timing issues I think...

Glad they aren't making you pay.

Communication is vital through all of this. Ironically we struggled more with this in NZ than Spain!

I didn't have uterine tests apart from the standard scan to check my lining. I doubt whether you would need to have extra stuff done as you were pregnant before with your wee man 😢.

My Spanish clinic never seemed concerned about getting a donor to match my dates. I think they just have so many to choose from.
