Chemical pregnancy with first ET

So I did my first round of IVF I was testibf quite early so to see them faint lines get darker I was overwhelmed and so excited. But then the lines started to get lighter and lighter to nothing and the hospital confirmed a chemical pregnancy. I'm heartbroken and just feel I I cant go on with this journey. I have a low ovarian reserve, 38 years old and only produced 5 follicles and 2 eggs. Only one of them was viable but unfortunately we've lost it. We have one more cycle left but going from this last one I'm not holding out ☹️

I had a chemical myself a few weeks ago. It’s hard, and I’m sorry you’re having to go through this. It seems more cruel as the carrot of pregnancy dangled even closer to your face, but don’t forget the chance of becoming pregnant is smaller than the chance of it not happening. The fact you got a chemical is a positive sign, as you got a little closer!

I have a little girl from a previous IVF cycle so know for a fact my body can do it - chemical is just bad luck. Rather have it end sooner if it isn’t meant to be than end in a proper miscarriage further down the line as that would hurt even more and you’d have lost more time... at least that’s how I try to see it if I’ve got my positive pants on.

It’s particularly cruel as in normal, non-IVF pregnancies the lady would usually not even know she had a chemical. It’s because we know the exact dates we pick up on it.

I wish you lots of strength to get through this and next round! Xx

I also had a chemical/loss a few weeks ago! I had positives from day 7 and they got stronger every day right up until day 14 and I stopped testing but my hCG on day 16 showed things had to be dropping. Its really tough to keep on going, we've had 4xBFN and 2xBFP but no baby yet. Take some time out to gather some strength and come back when you are ready, the strength comes from somewhere to keep going! We took some comfort in the fact that we have started getting implantation which for us was a big step although we had moved onto DE so that possibly helps. Big hugs.xx
