Second round of IVF cancelled 😢😢

I'm totally gutted at the fact that we've just had to cancel our second round of fresh IVF. I did a fresh cycle in March and had a chemical. It's taken me a while to get over it all and prepare myself for the second round. I've been sniffing since Mon and then on Wed my husband told me that he had a needlestick injury at work!!! We've had to cancel this round and now need to wait for 3 months in order to make sure he hasn't contracted anything!!! I'm totally gutted as I had my heart set on all going again this month 😢. Was cancelling the right thing to do or should I have just continued?? Thanks

Oh dear, you must be so disappointed hon. If there was enough doubt in your mind that you decided to cancel I'm sure you've done the right thing. If you'd gone on with it and it wasn't successful you would have always had that 'what if...'. So hard to wait though. Best of luck for when it rolls around again, I hope the waiting doesn't drag too much xxx

Yeah I think it was the right thing to do but I'm just really annoyed at my husband I guess. I know it was an accident but I just can't help getting annoyed at the whole situation. Thank you for your message xx

Hi Lindt. So so sorry to hear of this. Unfortunately you hav3 to be careful with needle stick injuries, just in case. I suppose if you had to cancel, better now than during stims, although that’s not much consolation I’m sure!

Another long wait but you’ll get there. Sending hugs and I shall be thinking of you. Diane xx

Thank you Diane. I know you're right, it definitely would've been far worse if it was during stims. Still can't help getting annoyed and being upset about it though xx

Oh that’s such a shame. It sounds like the right decision though - it would be heartbreaking to get further on then have complications from it. Good to start with a clean slate. Best wishes for a rest for you pending your next try. X

Thank you for your support Catwoman. Deep down I know it's the right thing to do but I just feel so gutted xx

I don't blame you for feeling gutted, the emotional preparation is massive, so when plans get changed and a delay is introduced its so frustrating. Planning My treatment was a horrible mess at times with a cyst delaying everything and leading into a period of intensive work away. I lost months and it was hideous. Is there a holiday or something you and your partner can plan on this time to have something to look forward to? X

Yes, you put everything on hold for the treatment and then when it doesn't go ahead, it really messes you up! How are things with you? We've just come back from Mauritius and thought we can start after our holiday xx
