Hi everyone, have not written on her for a while but am still on here most days like lots of you trying to support and give advice when I can. I feel it is really important to give back as I know how much so many of you have helped me.
Well today we have our 20 week scan and am again nervous/anxious as I normally am (like many) due to our history of with scans. I have not yet felt the baby and lots of people have been asking if I have or am enjoying this sensation, it has got into my head and although I know my placenta is at the front and this does make it harder, it is of course as we all know sometimes not easy to be logical.
I remember looking at other ladies when we went for the 12 week scan who I assumed were at their 20 week scan or more and thinking they look so relaxed and when I get to that stage I am sure I will be too, but that just does not happen. I know in reality you never stop worrying until your little miracle is here and then you have a life time of other worries!!!
Just wanted to share in case anyone was in the same position...
Sending love to you all xxxx

Hi Debrakay. Just wanted to wish you well with your 20 week scan. I* wouldn't worry about not feeling little one yet, but should be any day now. Just a tiny flutter to start with, that you may not realise at first. Could be that your placenta is in the way a bit. Still, your scan will reveal all. Hope all goes well with the second half of your pregnancy, and baby pops out all nice and clean with his/her nappy on! - I wish! Diane
Good luck with your scan. It's a worrying but magical moment. I hope all goes well. I didn't feel movement until 18-20 weeks and my placenta was posterior so I think the position of your placenta is probably why you haven't felt much yet. As Diane said, they are just flutters to start off with, so you can easily mistake it for something else 😁 Let us know how you get on xx
That's come around fast!! Don't stress (ha!) about not feeling anything yet - it's so faint to start with even without the placenta in the way. Hope BB cooperates and you get some good images of him/her to keep xxx
Scarily quickly. It's almost over now and I'm really sad, I'm going to miss being pregnant I've really loved it - although can't wait to meet her.
Really glad to see everything was fine on the scan, it's such a relief isn't it? My placenta was low too, but it's well out of the way now. Nice you'll get to see BB again so soon xxx
Glad the 20w scan went as well as it could do with a little wriggler!! As you say, nice to have an additional scan to see baby is never turned down!
I found the 20w scan amazing, so much to see and it’s the first one I’ve actually shed a tear at as all the others I’ve been terrified about.
We paid for a 16w scan and we were told then that my placenta was at the front. At around 18+6 I started to feel some flutterings...they were so light, you could quite easily miss them. However just under 21w, they couldn’t be felt any more, so I went into stress mode. I called the community midwife number that week, but it was either engaged or wasn’t answered. There were no midwife appointments available at our surgery either.
I called the midwife helpline again on Monday and she basically said I shouldn’t worry. I asked when we should and she said 24 weeks onwards..she said I know it doesn’t sound nice, but that’s when it’s viable...this didn’t ease my stress levels. I could understand if I’d never felt anything, but as I had and have had previous miscarriages, my worry still continued.
I ended up calling the day assessment unit at the hospital on Friday and they got in touch with the midwife who squeezed me in to listen to the heartbeat. Thankfully all was fine, but the worry never really goes away!!
If your placenta is front low, please have a read and speak with them about Vasa Praevia. I’m not telling you this is worry you, just want you to be aware and for them to do the correct checks for you whilst they are monitoring you.
Hi everyone. Had scan, everything looking perfect. No picture I’m afraid as baby would not stop moving. Have to come back in two weeks for another scan as there was a part of the spine they could not measure due to the baby again not playing ball 🤣. Positive is we got to look at our baby for 40 minutes and see it again in Two weeks. My placenta is also a little over the opening which they hope will move so they will monitor that also. Relief joy and happiness. ❤️❤️ xx thank you everyone. X
