Hi ladies! I believe that my 2ww paranoia has reached the pick and I have got couple of questions and will be very grateful if you could share you experience :
1. During all my treatment we have not had even 1 appointment with the doctor (only nurses). I’ve seen him once at the eggs collection for 5 min.- he brought the consent form to sign. Was it the same with you?
2. No one told us about the quality of our embryos. I see other people say : 9BA or something like this. We were not told about the grade even the one, which was transferred.
3. For my OTD they gave me only home urine test. I expected to have a blood test, as I believe that home tests are not very accurate. Also, the figure of hCG is important as well, as may tell how well the pregnancy is going (I was pregnant before and doctor checked blood every 2 days. This showed that things are not going well and this ended as miscarriage).
So, the question is if it is normal approach? Also, can the fact that my treatment is NHS funded play the role? 🤷♀️

I’ve had a similar experience to be honest. Hardly saw any doctors especially with my recent FET, haven’t seen a doctor once and got posted the meds so didn’t see anything until my first scan. First round I wasn’t told the embryo grading so this time I asked, they weren’t going to explain until I asked. I haven’t even been given a test I’ve been told to buy one and call them to let them know the result. No suggestion of bloods etc.
I am also NHS funded so 🤷🏼♀️ who knows.
One thing that has bothered me as well is I’ve not once been asked if I’m doing ok mental health wise, this process is horrible and I’ve felt so so low at times and it would have meant a lot for them to have asked how I’m doing x
The same for me: not even once anyone has asked me about how I am coping with the stress. And I am doing not quite well to be honest. But it’s partly hormones fault I think.
Anyway, in my area they fund only 1 cycle. So, if this one is not successful, I will go for a self-funded frozen transfer. Just very curious if there will be any difference.
I went private as I wasn’t getting what I thought was necessary information.
I believe what your going through rings true for the nhs.. keep asking! Pester! This is your body!
Hi i went through the NHS in Wales. I saw nurses the whole way through. I also met the scientists who collected and transfered a few months previously as she was the same lady who found and matched me to my sperm donor. I had a call the day of collection to tell me how many eggs they had collected. Then i had a call the next day with an update on how many fertilised and a then a call the next morning to tell me the grade and that i was having transfer that day. I had a 2 day transfer. Currently on my 2ww.
Hi, I am on NHS in Wales as well, saw just the nurses the whole way through, the doctor was on egg collection and transfer, the embryologist was very kind and explain to us about our embryos ( grade), we had a fresh and a frozen so far, nurses were always nice and asked every time how I feel emotional and offer both of my fails one appointment with the counsellor
Probably you need to ask all the questions that concern you even if you are through NHS xxx
Hi! Thank you for your response. You are right, I need to stop being shy and start asking more questions. In the end of the day, the result won’t depend on how nice they are, but how professional they are.
