Hydrosalpinx, Operation & Conceiving Naturally

Hi everyone! So last year I was told I had hydrosalpinx in my left tube (right tube looks fine). After going to the doctors they said an operation would be suitable due to the risks of ectopic pregnancy. Unfortunately, this operation has taken a year to be booked in and is now due a couple of weeks before my wedding so I have cancelled it. My partner and I are looking to start trying for a baby after the wedding but I am concerned about my ability to conceive with hydro? I had read online that hydro can leak and damage the baby or even cause miscarriage however when I spoke to my doctor about this he said he hadn’t heard of that? I don’t know whether it’s best to have the operation after the wedding (whereby they will remove my left tube) or whether to wait and try and conceive naturally first? Has anyone been able to try and conceive naturally with hydro?

All opinions would be very much appreciated!

Thank you x

Hello! Exciting times for you! At some point they thought I had two hydrosalpinxes but things were unclear on the scan. They decided to give me a fresh transfer and said it might or might not create a problem, but that we could see what would happen first. Well, that embole stuck and gave me a beautiful daughter. At my caesarean they couldn’t see anything untoward with my tubes. Weird hey? Good luck with your wedding and all that’s too come!

I had them on both my tubes and had to have them removed before I was allowed to have ivf x

Before you start trying please please have the hydro dealt with. The fluid inside the tube is toxic for an embryo and wil make it difficult for the embryo to implant. I had hydros and read the whole internet. I tried ivf with the hydro in place and it failed. I then had an operation to snip the damaged tube and my following cycle was successful... I really don’t understand why your advised differently as my consultant was adamant that my chances with a hydro were drastically reduced. Xx
