Paying for private scans or wait for scheduled scans ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜‚

Would it be extreme if I paid for a private scan every wee until I'm 12 weeks pregnant ๐Ÿ˜‚ my next scan is a week on Thursday and I'll be 8w6d. I am so impatient! Weve seen the heartbeat, they measured in target, I'm just as worried as I will allow myself to be after my miscarriage last year. Such an anxious time!!

Not at all hun. Do whatever makes you feel calmer. The early weeks are tough, it gets better after 12 weeks tho we always worry a bit. All the best with your pregnancy xoxo

Thank you, the other half doesn't want me too as he sees the money for the pram, car seat etc ๐Ÿ˜‚ I only have 8 days from the morning to wait until my next scan, injustice impatient Haha. Hoe you are well? Xx

It would be totally understandable! I hope you meant every โ€œweekโ€ and not every โ€œweeโ€ as you wrote ๐Ÿ˜‚

They did tell me that once theyโ€™ve seen a good strong heartbeat and itโ€™s measuring correctly for the 7-week scan, thereโ€™s only 5% or so chance of it miscarrying. Hope that puts your mind at rest. Take care!

Haha yeah definitely meant week ๐Ÿ˜‚ I think its just excitement and nerves, as my last miscarriage was a little traumatic as we saw the heartbeat twice but they just weren't growing past 5w6d. At least this time they measure 6w5d on the morning of 6w6d which I'm not worried about. Think I'm more nervous also as I haven't had much nausea the last couple of days and boobs aren't quite as tender even though logically I know that's normal for it to fluctuate ๐Ÿ˜‚ I only have 8 days from tomorrow until my next scan. I'm going to make myself wait. Thanks for replying lovely x

Yeah, the money would come in useful for other things, but some things are priceless - like peace of mind.

Maybe just knowing the private scan is always there as an option if the anxiety gets really really bad will help you settle and you won't feel the need for doing one every week? These early weeks are nervewracking, aren't they? Especially after a loss.

Hope everything continues to go well and it's all good news next week xxx

Nah not extreme at all, it's what I did ๐Ÿคฃ

Nope your not extreme at all. I'm only 10 days post embryo transfer and already looking at private scans. How far in was you when you booked your first scan? Thank you xx

I was 6 weeks for my first scan so 3w2d after my dad transfer. But couldn't see the fetal pole at that scan as was hiding in the corner so had another at 6w6d x

If thatโ€™s what you feel is necessary then you have to do what will put your mind at ease. However, on the other hand, I think Iโ€™ve seen some research that says although thereโ€™s been no adverse effects proven from ultrasounds, itโ€™s recommended that you donโ€™t have more than are medically necessary.

Hiya, you do what feels right for you, if you have that option in the back of your mind, use it as and when. Just like a little box of chocolate treats, just take one as and when you need one. Good luck xx

Iโ€™d love to do this too, but my partner is also against it so considering sneaking in one without him knowing. Not sure yet...

I had one at 6 and one at 9 weeks privately (like the rest of my treatment) it was suggested by my consultant. I felt reassured! There are more important things than money!! Hope this helps.

Haha nope. Not at all. I just had a private one at 6 weeks, the clinic will do one at 8 weeks, they'll do one at 10 weeks for the Harmony test and then the 12 week one. Its what keeps you calm xxx

Hi, congratulations on your pregnancy! Thatโ€™s wonderful news! Its perfectly understandable. If it makes you feel better, you should go for it as I believe stress and anxiety are not good for you and baby. It will get better after 12 weeks and even better when you will feel your baby moving. Personally, I have paid for a few scans too as I miscarriages before. That really helped me to manage my stress and anxiety. I wish you all the best of luck xx
