Much lower AFC than a few months ago

Hi everyone,

I just returned from my baseline scan and my AFC is 5 while it was 12 back in February. I am wondering whether this means that my Amh halved in just a few months, or is it bad luck? Has anyone have had a similar experience?

It could be just cycle variability. In the past I had twice an Afc of 8 and when I went of ivf I had 14... So it can go up or down based on the cycle. Sometimes they are also hiding in the start but they might end up growing with the meds...

I think it can fluctuate a lot a lot each cycle. I’m not sure if you’ve done an egg retrieval recently but that can also affect things. Mine went from 25 to 8 after egg retrieval and the clinic said that it can take a little while for the ovaries to heal.

I had an egg collection in february and a FET right after that. For the FET I had to do a downregulation and I’m wondering whether it takes time for my ovaries to wake up after downregulation.

I’ve never done a down regulation but I imagine all of the medication and procedures we’re doing would temporarily affect AFC.

I’ve had afc of 4, 5, 7 and 11 in different cycles so it really can vary xx

Thanks Orla9298 did you find that you responded differently from each round in terms of embryo quality? Did you end up having a better cycle with 11 than with 4?

No actually, I got better embryos when I only had 7 or 8, but it’s unrelated to my AFC, more related to lower levels of drugs used when I got the better embryos. Unfortunately there is little way to predict the quality against AFC xx
