Hi had egg retrieval last Wednesday and had 12 eggs retrieved, 3 fertilised and now at day 3 1 embryo is showing normal growth whilst another been slow to develop. The 3rd has ceased. Is it possible that embryos can develop at a slow rate. Obviously pinning hopes on the healthy embryo ( going to 5th day transfer ) but is there hopes for the one developing slowly? Thanks

Embryo slow to grow
Hi,
I had 3 eggs fertilise too and on day 3 two were at 6 cells and one was at 8 cells, so it is quite normal for different embryos to develop at different rates.
The slower ones could catch up, so just keep believing!
I had the 8 cell transferred on day 3 and the clinic are monitoring the other 2 to see if they continue to develop and can be frozen.
Try and stay positive though, you have one that is growing as expected and it only takes one 🙂

I was in a similar situation. 11 eggs, 7 mature and 4 fertilised. By day 5 we only had 2 left. 1 was a blastocyst but poor quality (5cc) and the other was a compacting morula so was dragging behind and not even at the blast stage. Consultant said this one was our wild card as they couldn’t grade it but it could end up being better quality than the 5cc - maybe it was just a slow developer. We had both transferred and 1 took! Currently 8 weeks and baby looking perfect on US 😊 We obviously don’t know which made it but I read up a lot about cc grade blasts and them being considered ‘non viable’ by some clinics so maybe it was our little wild card 😊 They can still make perfect babies even if they are a bit behind at the embryo stage. Good luck 🍀🍀🍀
Hopefully it will catch up 🤞🏼
I had a slower one that didn’t quite make it to day 5 but luckily had 1 that did and I’ve just had my 7 week scan 😊 as they say - It only takes 1. Good luck 🤞🏼xx
Thank you people and your helpful replies!!
Well I had the ET on the Monday only 1 made it but not to blastocyst stage but compacting morula. I’m trying to stay hopeful for this one. Pregnancy test is on the 31st
