Spoke too soon!

So my husband picked up his blood slips but they told him at the GP that some of the Male blood tests for infertility need doing at the clinic!

Does this mean we have to fund this?

Does this sound right? Or is this a way of saving the NHS some money?

Any of you lovely ladies’ partners or husbands had to have bloods done before starting IVF/ICSI ?

xx

My husband had all the sexual health bloods at his gp (HIV, Hep C, few others) they printed off results and gave to clinic. No other bloods needed for husband xx

The issues lie with him that’s why they need further tests. Have to see what they say tomorrow- thanks xx

Yes, we had some tests that the GP couldn’t/wouldn’t do as they were too expensive. It was all the chromosome ones for my OH (do you need those?) x

They are Male ones- cystic fibrosis, prolactin and Keratin is it?

They are the ones that aren’t on the blood slip x

Yes, they test for all chromosome issues I think if there is any issue with the sperm sample (ours had zero sperm in it). We had to pay for those (think it was £500) and then ironically the NHS repeated them for free when we went for genetic counselling because the results weren’t good. Hopefully you can get them to do them for free ( I think it depends on your Dr) x

Bloody hell!

We shouldn’t be punished for this and being made to pay- like the stress of it all isn’t enough!

Thank you x

It certainly is not!

I go back to everyone saying “Just have IVF.” In my head I was screaming “Yes because it’s going to be that simple.”

The only positive that I get now is that I don’t expect a missed period and every period that comes and goes is another month closer! Whereas before we knew, I was upset and dreading the period as I just wanted a positive test! I don’t waste money either now on home tests.

My periods actually stopped a few months back I was that stressed, so that was mind games too! Am I ? Aren’t I?

X

Hi.

We are just at the start of our 2WW after having IVF and ICSI the last two weeks. We are on our first cycle and my husband had all his blood tests done at the fertility clinic.

Good luck x

Our GP only did my day 21 test and FSH along with hubbys sperm analysis. The clinic did everything else for us (especially the karyotyping, not sure if GP's have access to that) and it was included in our NHS treatment. Give your clinic a ring to discuss.xx
