What to expect

Hello, so after 3 years of trying to conceive including 6 months on Clomid, we finally have an appointment in 5 weeks which is hopefully to kick start our IVF process. We have unexplained infertility. Everybody around us seems to be having kids left right and centre. We recently decided to tell our families about our journey so far as it's so hard dealing with the constant questions of "when are you guys having a baby then?!" Anybody in the same situation will understand how difficult each day is in numerous situations that you're faced with. Just wondering if anybody can give us a realistic approach to what to expect including time frames for IVF through the NHS starting with our first referral appointment please? Nothing on this journey happens quick and it's a constant wave of waiting and disappointment each month as the dreaded cycle comes back around, just hoping this works for us 🤞😑

We had our first clinic appointment in the September and on Xmas Day did the first injection...

It seems to vary on each clinic. They’ll have a list of blood tests, smear etc that needs to be up to date and within a certain amount of months to be counted.

Just before our first appointment I had to have an internal scan and hubby had to give a sample.

Good luck, the new adventure begins x

Thank you for your reply, it helps to have some sort of insight into things and I'm sure they'll give us lots of information at the appointment but I like to be prepared especially for waiting times etc. Really appreciate you taking the time to respond, thanks again 🤞😁 x

Hiya, I had my first appointment in May 2017 and have only had my transfer recently. However this included a gap as the hospital we were referred prior to the fertility clinic were absolutely horrendous and made us not want to go through with it. With the current clinic we had our appointment this time last year. Then started the collection process in December. I have unexplained infertility too so I don’t know if they’re a bit slower with us hoping we fall naturally???

Thank you. We want to go into this appointment with a realistic outlook and have some sort of idea what we might be to expect. We haven't been told yet or considered where they might send us for treatment, do you know if there is anywhere we can find out which clinics link with our local hospital to maybe review them beforehand? Hope all is good on your journey and thanks for taking the time to reply, it means a lot X
