GCT Genetic Compatibility Test for DE IVF?

We need to tick on the DE IVF consent form whether we want to do the GCT test. It is 750 euros, and we are masively undecided whether it is worth having it. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks

I'm doing DE treatment and we didn't have this as an option but that maybe because all of the donors at our clinic are all screened prior to donating, is this not something that your clinic does for all donors anyway? My husband had already had karyotyping done in the UK as he has a very low sperm count so we had to rule out he didn't have any genetic causes.xx

The clinic tests the donors according to the legal requirement, however this genetic compatibility test is offered optional at additional price, to test the possibility of transmitting 600 most prevalent recessive genetic diseases, in order to avoid passing them on.

I guess it's just a personal choice. As I said we never got offered this so obviously depends on clinics. I presumed that most things can be ruled our with the testing they do as routine.xx

Hi, sorry for lack of reply to previous message. I'm playing catch up this evening, so will respond now. We were in the same situation and massively undecided too, read about false positive and negative results but I was still undecided but afyer talking to a friend and weighing it all up and what we would do with the results we have decided against it. Well we are thinking of doing donor in Spain and given an option I would definitely take this . The more I know d better it is . Ofcourse that’s me everyone is different. Best of luck
