Clomid success after 6 months?

I have just finished my 6th month of clomid and still no BFP, I'm beginning to think it's totally pointless. Does anyone have any clomid success stories after using it for this long or longer? Have another 3 months worth to take....

Hi Jane

I had 5 rounds of Clomid, all unsuccessful. We met with the consultant and decided to try IVF and we were lucky enough to fall pregnant on our first attempt. I think part of the reasoning for moving to IVF was my age. At the time I thought we should maybe try a sixth round of Clomid as that’s the maximum they advised and I didn’t want to miss out on any chances but the consultant said if we didn’t get pregnant through IVF we wouldn’t have done on Clomid so didn’t have anything to lose (except lots of money as we were self-funding!). I have polycystic ovaries by the way which they think was the cause of our secondary infertility (we had a son naturally nearly four years ago).

Have you had a meeting with your clinic about other options or have you just been told to carry on with the Clomid for the next three months? X

Thanks for your reply. Next appointment with the consultant is June, where they will refer me for IVF. I'm wondering if I should try and bring it forward. I'm 36 (37 in September) so age is a factor for me as well x

Hi Jane_141, I had 6 rounds of Clomid I got a BFP on my number 6 but lost at just before my 7 week scan. I then went onto IUI with Clomid for 3 cycles and now on my 1st round of IVF. My friend got her BFP on round 2 of Clomid and had 2 beautiful boys. I really think it depends on your personal circumstances, I also found Clomid really hard to cope with. Emotionally I was a wreck and felt awful on it. I would trust your consultant as they know what they are doing just make sure you go to your appointment armed with a list of questions so you can have as much information to hand when you make your decision. Good Luck x
