Are there all different types of ivf do they do the one to suit your problem ? I’m so confused haven’t seen ivf clinic yet so don’t have a clue what to expect xx

Your treatment will depend on what your fertility issues are.

I have to have ICSI because my AMH is low and the hubby has low morphology.

Don’t get to hung up on it, see what they say at that first appointment, make sure you know all your options and they ask all your questions

I’m just starting on this journey too and it can be so overwhelming. I’ve started carrying a wee notebook where I write questions to ask the doctor as they come to me or I write down info as I find it.

There are a few websites I’ve found really helpful; the HFEA (this is the official IVF website that sets out the rules and guidance), The Duff, and The Preggers Kitchen.

I’ve found reading up and researching the process really helpful, and soothing. I get quite anxious but my little notebook has definitely helped me. Especially as you’ll get bamboozled by stats and abbreviations.

Ahh bless you yes it is scary especially not knowing what to expect !! I still can’t get to terms with having to go down this route so gutted xxx

I’m so with you!! And the few people I’ve confided in always say “it’ll be worth it in the end”. I don’t think they can comprehend how devastating it is to have all the choices taken away from you, and all control and hopes put on someone else. It is terrifying!! Xx

Yes you are right there !! I feel such guilt to my husband to you think your never be in this situation or the times being careful to not get pregnant to find when do try nothing works 😞 and it’s the long process !! Do you know why your having difficulties? Mine is coz I have a heart shaped womb and big fribroid xxx

I have a heart shaped womb too! That and PCOS. Since I’ve been attending the fertility clinic (over a year) I’ve never actually ovulated. So I definitely understand the guilt you describe as my partners tests have all been normal.

Ahh have you is your womb completely separated my fibroid makes it worse you feel unwomanly dont u ru having ivf xxx

Ahh yours sounds a little bit more extensive than mine. They noticed it first on an internal US and then it was confirmed at the HSG, then I had to get an MRI for a more detailed look. I believe the heart shaped bit at the top of my womb, shouldn't hold me back too much, but it does make me unsuitable for multiple pregnancies. So I will only ever get a single embryo transfer. Are you getting surgery to try and help?

Yes, I'm just starting IVF, I think I have my first proper appointment with the doctor on Thursday. I've already filled all the forms in so I believe this is when they discuss drug protocols but I'm not sure. Its so overwhelming! I just want the treatment to start but I'm so nervous at the same time!

Have you been referred to the clinic via your GP or are you going private?

Oh I know is very overwhelming I don’t have an appt to see them yet waiting to see fertility consultant first then be referred no on the nhs xxx

Standard IVF is when they stimulate your ovaries to collect you eggs to put together with sperm in a dish and let nature do its job of fertilising the eggs to create embryos to grow and put back inside you around 5 daya later. ICSI is also IVF where if there is a problem with the sperm they choose the best sperm in a sample inject each egg with one sperm, see if fertilisation occurs and then grown the embryos in a dish in he lab same as above. So yes there are a couple of different things they do depending on the issue. They can also give different protocols/drugs to stimulate your ovaries so the process can vary from person to person.xx
