It’s the small wins that keep us going!

I just wanted to share a small positive today. My husband and I both had to tell our bosses today that we’ll be starting IVF soon and will have lots of appointments. Both were very understanding, knew people who’d been through it and were so accommodating and lovely. It’s the small wins along the way that keep us going, it doesn’t all have to be hard. He said Congratulations too which is maybe an odd one but I really liked it infertility strips the excitement and joy out of conceiving and that little comment gave me a little something back. Something positive and yes I should be congratulated for getting this far too!

That’s really great news. I was just chatting to my boss today actually about how it’s made my life so much easier having all her support. I’m allowed to work from home on days of appointments cause I live quite near the hospital but work a long way a way from where I work and little adjustments like that makes such a big difference!

We should definitely celebrate good bosses and supportive organisations. I was really interested in the articles fertility network have about infertility in the workplace. I believe there should be a policy on it in the workplace the same as maternity policy.

I think it’s also really lovely your boss has congratulated you - you absolutely should be congratulated for getting this far!!

Best of luck on your IVF journey ✨❤️ Xxx

My organisation (a big bank) do have a fertility treatment policy but while everything else is just there and available to read this is something they mention but don’t explain and looks like you have to phone HR to find out! Silly really not all bosses will be as good as mine.

Thank you, good luck to you too! x

It’s lovely that you both have that level of support from your employers and though it’s hard to tell people you aren’t so close to, it does make it easier when appointments come up. Wishing you lots of luck! X
