How does it work....

here-_to_get_support profile image

I'm due egg transfer tomorrow and i just wondered if I could have some reassurance about the process.....

This is likely to much info but, in the run up I have been vaginally using 3 suppositories, 2 gels and 2 progonova.... daily. I'm booked in for a 2pm transfer so I will have used at least 2 supposities and 1 gel..... I just worry about the area been messy up there around there even though I will have showered in the morning (I'm sorry I know this might be TMI). Do they just bypass it all, clean the area and I feel very self conscious been unable to fully clean. Or should i just tell myself hell to it all! I'm sorry this is my first transfer so any support/advice would help x

Don’t worry, they’ll give your cervix a good clean!! The joys of ivf 😂 xx

Oh that makes me feel much better thank you! I knew that they did that for EC but I can't remember it because of the sedation. I just kept thinking the egg in the tube will get covered in cream 😂 such a silly thing to get anxious about I know!

I was advised by my clinic to skip the gel vaginally on the day of transfer and had to take antispasmodic suppository rectally. But if the clinic didn’t say anything to you about it then they will just clean the cervix. You could give them a ring in the morning to check.

Make sure you drink a lot of water before. Good luck x

They will wipe your cervix. Feels a little odd but not painful. Make sure you have a full bladder. Good luck xx

Dr told me to use pessaries normally on day of transfer - they gave it a quick clean out before the transfer. Don't worry about it, they know you're using pessaries, they know what it's going to look like in there!! Best of luck with your transfer xxx

Good luck tomorrow, it's the exciting part. You get to see the embryo on the screen and then there's something quite magical about it. It's quite quick, about 10 minutes xx

I was also told to skip gel morning of transfer but to bring with me to use straight afterwards. But looks like plenty of other girls on here used it before. Guess every clinic differs. The mess will be the last of your worries once you have a full bladder. 1 liter they say.... I was convinced I was going to pee on the doc doing my transfer 😂😂😂😂

Good luck 🍀 sending you baby dust 💗

Thank you, I mix the times of taking the meds depending on what I've had on at work. Not nice taking the gel then walking around 🤣 so i might just stickwith the tablets first thing. Hoping we can see it too x

I was told to take meds as normal that day. They are in your system within 15-20 mins anyway. Definitely full bladder. Please dont worry, they do this several times a day and are totally used to it.

The actual transfer is the quickest "is that it?" 5 minutes of this entire journey. Honestly, for such a momentous occasion, its really quick. You get to watch on screen. It's amazing, but quick. Which us great as you will be bursting for the loo.

Good luck xxx
