We've had our two embryos sent off for pgt-a testing. However, it turns out it takes 3 weeks to get the results back. We had our hearts set on transferring the embryos (if normal) during my next (current) cycle, however we're now concerned we're going to have to wait 2 cycles until they can be transferred.
I'm just wondering if anyone else has done pgt-a and managed to have their embryos transferred during their next cycle?
We had egg collection 29th July, and the embryos were sent for testing Monday 3rd August. If we get the results back on monday 24th August, I'll be on day 16 of my cycle. We know there's a choice of medicated or natural, and I usually ovulate around day 21, so if natural we could possibly still transfer?? Is that right? Our clinic aren't really telling us much at the moment (they seem inundated after the lockdown) so we feel a bit up in the air.
Any help appreciated xx

Hey lovely! I had PGT-M which is slightly different but the process sounds the same! My embryos were sent off for testing which took 4 weeks.
I had to have my post egg collection bleed which came about 6 days later. Then I had to have another period. My clinic like you to have one natural cycle in between. It was on the period after that that I started my medicated FET. Hope that helps and good luck xx
Hi, thanks for replying. That's what I was dreading being told. We were against pgt-a (wasn't really a major need for it) but the consultant talked us into it, pushed our egg collection 2 days so we'd qualify for testing, then ended up with possible ohss and a freeze all cycle. We really wanted a fresh transfer, it's all the waiting around... Again. Three weeks to be told they may or may not be OK, then another wait around to transfer or start another cycle. Just tired of it all.
I’m sorry to say bring bad news! It’s honestly rubbish isn’t it. It’s a long and painful drawn out process. But just got to think positive and of the end result! What’s another week when you have your bundle of joy xx
Hi there, theoretically it should be worth it in the end. The idea of testing is that you don’t transfer a non viable embryo (and therefore waste time and money doing so). So the prolonged period of waiting time now should help in the long run. You will likely need a call/ zoom call with your consultant before you transfer anyway so I would book this in in advance if I was you and then at least you know that’s done. This is what I did so I knew I had an appointment for next steps in the diary even though I didn’t have the results back yet. X
Hi, both our embryos came back abnormal anyway, so it's on to round 4 of ivf. Literally got the call an hour ago so feeling pretty raw. Convinced I'm just full of bad eggs
Oh hun. So sorry to hear that. We didn’t get any embryos back from testing out of our first cycle and it was really heart breaking. You go through so much and then the awful news just hits you so hard!! Don’t blame yourself. It’s luck and a numbers game. That’s all it is. The more I know about the science and biology of IVF, the more I’m convinced it’s not really about that, just whether the stars have been aligned that month or not!! Let’s hope things change for you in the next round xx
I don’t know any clinics in the U.K. that turn around PGT in less than 2 weeks (there are places in Europe apparently) I was told up to 5 weeks but got them back in 3 and transferred after my next period - so If I remember correctly I had egg collection 3rd week of September and then did a transfer with a mosaic embryo in November - I do non medicated FET and that is pretty much the quickest turnaround
