Post egg collection, OHSS so now waiting for frozen transfer... Do I need to use contraception?

Hi all,

Just a quick questions, so I had my egg collection 24.01.2019 and I am just about starting feeling back to normal from quite severe OHSS.

We are thinking about waiting until after we come back from our holiday in May, for the FET... unsure about going on holiday during the process (worried about the timings ect).

So in the meantime...Do me and my OH have to use condoms from now until then? Or if not how long after EC do you have to use contraception. I know the chance of a naturally pregnancy is very slim (and would not be a bad thing obviously) but I was advised that you have to be extra safe, so it doesn't interfere with the treatment.

Hi

The reason they advise contraception is so that, if you are successful, the ivf process doesn't harm it. I would not use contraception until the actual cycle you are due to start again. Good luck- there is always hope x

Hi JadeH. Usually you are OK to try naturally until the start of your treatment cycle. Check with your clinic, but I'm sure you could enjoy your holiday, then "off you go". Good luck! Diane
