I've seen a fertility specialist in the hospital this week. They have prescribed me clomid for 6 cycles and said that if not successful then I will go ahead with ivf in July.
Anyone have any tips?
How long did it take if you were successful?
If not successful did you move onto ivf?
Will start researching also but would help to hear experiences from anyone.
Baby dust to you all xxx

I had success with clomid after my third laparoscopy to treat endometriosis. I fell the first cycle I used it after the surgery. I was skeptic it would work! But I’m now 20 weeks pregnant. If you have any questions please feel free to ask me . Wishing you the best xofo
Thank you for your reply and huge congratulations that is amazing news
Great to hear that you were successful on your first cycle.
Can I ask if you were on metaformin or any other medication at the same time? As I was toldto continue with metaformin also.
Were there any side effects that clomid gave you?
X
Thank you. After 7 years of TTC we are over the moon ❤️
I didn’t take metaformin. I did take a low dose aspirin to suppress my endometriosis as well as following anti inflammatory diet( my endometriosis grows rapidly) I took a cough medicine containing guaifenesin as clomid can thicken the mucus & make it harder for sperm to reach the egg! I took evening primrose oil until ovulation to help my lining. I also used a progesterone cream between days 8-26 ( my cycles are 28 days) to boast my progesterone level as ladies with endometriosis can have lower levels ( my fertility doctor gave me progesterone pessaries till I was 12 weeks) I also ate pineapple as that is meant to help implantation! I took a simple fertility vitamin supplement. We used clearblue digital ovulation tests &we tried every other day from day 8 & tried on Lh surge & day after!
The only side effects I had was hot flushes which went away after a few days of taking & tender breasts.
It can delay ovulation ( my Lh surge is normally between cd12-14 although have been as early as day 8 🙄but didn’t see the surge till cd15) & make your period cycle longer. Generally you should expect to ovulate anywhere between 6-12 days after your last clomid was taken. There are online ovulation calculators for clomid. The clearblue digital ovulation tests were better because they don’t detect estrogen just the Lh surge which clomid can make higher levels of estrogen. I couldn’t get on with the lines! 🤣
Hi greengreen. The manufacturers recommend no more than 6 cycles in one year. Most start with 50mgs starting on 2nd day of cycle, for 5 days. If no joy after 3 months then increase dose to 100 mgs for 3 months. Your specialist will advise what dose. It is safe to try a cough medicine containing guaifenesin to thin mucus in vagina if it becomes too thick (possible side effect of Clomid). Any other medication, check with specialist before using. On to IVF usually if unsuccessful. Good luck! Diane
I can’t answer your question but it sounds like we are in the same boat. I am on my second cycle of six on Clomid and I have my appointment to discuss IVF at the end of May.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed, drinking pomegranate juice and eating pineapple core!
I was prescribed Clomid as I had had cycle lengths up to 70 days, my temperature charts showed no evidence of ovulation and I hadn’t managed to get ovulation tests to work. My consultant was pretty convinced I wasn’t ovulating!
I ovulated on my first cycle with 50mgs of Clomid so hopefully the lower dose is going to at least get me ovulating.
It’s so annoying when usually you are dreading af, but on occasions like this you want it to arrive so you can start trying something new. I had to use norethisterone to get my period started due to my cycles being so long.
Hopefully work and yoga will get you through the wait. xxx
