I had all signs of PCOS. But they wanted to make sure.
There seemed to be a slight blockage on one side in my tubes after I had my hsg. I had the bag privately so cost me about £700.
But the results were sent to my gp and I provided a copy to the fertility specialist.
It was one less test to be done on nhs so it sped things up a little.
I was then given metaformin to help me ovulate. As I was told that everything else is in order but does not look like I ovulate. I've been on that for around 4 to 5 months.
Yesterday I went to see the fertility specialist and was prescribed clomid to do the same thing.
Im definitely wanting to fo private for the HSG. Just looking for some health insurance.
I have heard good stories about Clomid, i hope it works for you! Xx
Did they do an antral follicle count during the scan? Also have your AMH, FSH and oestrogen tested, get a full picture of your hormones, then have a hsg/HyCoSy, also get your partner's sperm tested- maybe go private if you've got the money as you'll have more control of it. With me all hormones were fine, had high AMH, I was 28 and antral follicle count of 42, also have a 4 year old, but fluid didn't go through one of my tubes during HyCoSy so was given a chance of concieving within few months after, we went straight in to doing IVF as felt we had tried for almost a year with nothing and was getting too stressful and I'm now 18 weeks 3days after my first transfer- best thing we've done! Xxx
Hi, thanks for replying, all she said at the scan was everything looked totally fine. So I doubt they checked AFC. Waiting on results been sent to my Dr. Im looking at health insurance to see if that will pay out atm.
Congratulations on your BFP! I hope it goes well xx
Urgh the NHS annoys me so much! I had a scan like this too, when I first went to a fertility clinic I was shocked at how thorough they were and happy everything was being checked properly. Hope you get some answers too, good luck xxxxx
