First phone call after EC

Just recieved call from the embryologist, out of the 21 eggs they collected 20 were mature and 17! Have fertilised. However as we're having a freeze all due to OHSS, we've no idea how many will make it that far yet but what a positive outcome so far. I'll be happy with 4 or 5 to freeze

Great numbers! We had 8 collected, 5 fertilised and 3 made it to day 5 but only one was deemed good enough to put back so we had none to freeze. I am fortunate to be nearly 29 weeks pregnant with that one so it only takes one! Good luck! X

That's amazing news! What fantastic numbers, well done! Must be frustrating having to do a freeze all and wait for transfer but actually there is increasing evidence that frozen transfers have a better success rate anyway. Can I just ask when they diagnosed your OHSS? Was it yesterday? I hope you're not reeling too bad. X

It was pretty much a given I would get OHSS from before we started stims due to past ovulation induction response and having PCOS. I had over 40 follicles on my right ovary and about 20-30 On my left but was hard to count that side as I had fluid round my ovary. They all grew to some degree with the meds but then got stuck between 7mm and 9mm so had to up my dosage and then 4 days later I had about 25 that were 15mm+. Yesterday they just confirmed I couldn't have a fresh transfer due to the size of my ovaries. He actually described them as bigger than golf balls and they couldn't actually get to all the follicles due to the amount of fluid around my ovaries so they've had to leave about a 3rd of them behind. So definitely unsafe haha. I'm fine with a frozen transfer in regards to success rates- just frustrating having to wait again!

Thabkyou, looking at another 4 -5 months before we can go ahead with FET as Dr wats to monitor me for 8 weeks due to the over response

Yes it's important that you look after yourself. To be honest I don't think I gave my body enough time to recover from the EC's before having my first FET xx

Just a bit long as I have to take provera to induce a cycle as I don't have one naturally, then get to day 21 for the injection and then wait out till transfer haha

And of course the time before hand waiting for my body to settle. So it'll be a minimum of 10 weeks until i start taking provera
