Everyone is different. Hopefully you will have success with your embryo. But if you don't, no matter how you feel now, your desire to be a mother will drive you to either try again or think about adoption at some point.
I'll be doing my 5th transfer soon....used 6 embryos so far (3 OE and 3 DE) and will be putting 2 back next time. Everyone is different, some are lucky 1st time and others take a bit longer, some never get there! We just gotta keep pushing on for as long as we can take. Hugs, it does get you down....know that feeling well!xx
Hi vickyg. I think only you can decide how far you will go with trying for that much wanted baby. Perhaps your clinic has spoken to you about some additional support for your last stored embryo e.g. Clexane (blood thinner) or a low dose steroid to support your immune system. Lots to ask I'm sure. We have ladies here that have had numerous tries before succeeding, hen there are the fortunate ones that are successful first time. Obviously, I wish you all the best with your forthcoming transfer, and of course for success. Diane
I have had 2 failed transfers. It is physically and emotionally draining and at this stage I doubt whether we will try again.
Hi Vickyg, I know this is such a difficult journey, I'm on my third attempt, first attempt OE cycle got cancelled as I wasn't responding to meds, 2nd attempt with DE fresh transfer ended in a MMC at around 7 weeks end Aug and had my FET on Friday,3rd attempt. I have times where are feel very anxious and feel it's not going to work but then read all the success stories and it keeps me going, I've also started counselling so maybe worth exploring.
I can empathise- I’ve never had BFP with 1 fresh and 1 frozen under my belt.
We are going for 3rd FET this week and putting two embryos in.
We had issues with early bleeding, and I have thyroid issues too - I’m on Clexane steroids and thyroid tabs as well as progesterone injections to give us the best chance.
As Diane suggested a lot of us do need this extra support.
Have you had thyroid investigated? Tsh needs to be below 2.5 for fertility
We are very lucky that we have 9 embryos left - but now it feels daunting that if this cycle doesn’t work I’ll have to go through this 3/4 more times and still not succeed.
I really didn’t want to proceed this time either but eventually I took some
Time out- built myself back up and made sure the clinic covered all bases this time as they didn’t listen previously and I believe that was part of our problem
I’ve had 6 transfers. One fresh bfn. One fet bfp which was a missed miscarriage. Another fet bfp, which again was another missed miscarriage. A fet bfn. A fresh bfn and now I’m pregnant with a fet again.
We have had 10 embryos between us. One perished at thaw and we have two on ice xx
I’m sorry you’re feeling this way, I know it’s so hard 😔 Try not to lose hope though. This is a numbers game unfortunately so while there are other factors, ultimately it can be like rolling a dice and seeing how many times it takes you to get there. Problem is, it’s such a horrendous, all-consuming journey to be on in the process. While we were so very lucky to conceive our first on the first go, the second time round it’s taken us two fresh rounds and four transfers so far - this time with just one embryo and none to freeze, so it’s onto our third and final fresh if it fails. I’d say hang in there as it’s your very first round and you are doing well to have so many embryos to transfer. With any luck, one of them will stick! Xx
It's very hard to determine how far you will go. I've just had my second transfer and I'm dreading another BFN. I have three embryos on ice and once all those are gone (if this one doesn't stick) then I think I will call time but it's so bloody difficult as I don't want to give up but I will reach a limit. Good luck on your journey and whatever you decide to do xx
The NICE guidelines are for three full rounds of ivf because this is likely to be how many some women need. It’s really really common for first rounds not to work as they develop your protocol to suit you. It’s hard to keep going but keep the faith that it will be worth it xx
Hi Vicky, some people get lucky and get pregnant with their first or second cycle, I’ve had 4 BFNs now from 2 cycles. I’m currently on the 2ww with two embryos transferred from my third cycle with 5 in the freezer. This round seems to be the best so far in terms of numbers and quality for me but there is still no knowing if the embryos are abnormal or if I have an undiscovered issue. All I know is that I will be a mum - I don’t know when or how or how long it’s going to take - but somehow I will get there, hopefully sooner rather than later. I’m never giving up on my dream. Stay positive and focused. You’ll surprise yourself with how much you can take for something you want more than anything you’ve ever wanted in your whole life. Good luck xxxxxx
Hey, there! I know how you feel. But, the fact is, it's different for everyone. IVF does not necessarily work in the first attempt. It could take time for you. It could happen for someone else, on the first attempt. So, you shouldn't lose hope regarding that. These methods require quite a bit of patience. Keep the faith, hun and keep trying. Sending you my best wishes and love. You can do this! My sister needed four attempts! But, it happened, in the end! Here's to hoping it happens, right away. Good luck to you and lots of baby dust.
