Hello everybody

I have been in Denmark last week and met an immunolgist Prof. He got blood samples and the results will be ready after3-4 weeks! He gave me prednisolone 5mg and said measuring the NK cell is so tricky coz it goes ups and down during a cyke! But anyway he said it wont be harmful to try prednisole at the start of ivf( mine will be on february) and from the day of ET we must doble the dosage(2 tablets per day) .I asked hime if I can start it from January for TTC for one month and he said there wont be any problem but totally I shouldnt take it more than 4 months!

He reccomended an special infusion( just forgot the name of it!) that can be used at the same time with prednisolone and he said the results of pregnancy is about70to 80% with this infusion! But it is sooo expensive!around 200 Euros per session and I dont know how many is needed! They inject it in the body during a few hours per session. He said I dont need this one yet and it is better we try with olny prednisolone first! However I couldnt afford it neither!

Have anybody tried prednisolone during ivf or TTC naturally? Any experience?!

I apprecciate your time for replying me!

Hope u all the best on your ways wherever u are❤️❤️🙌🙌

I took prednisolone during my last cycle and am currently 16 week pregnant - I definitely think taking it made a difference. I think you may be talking about intralipid infusion which I looked in to and asked my consultant about however he wasn’t keen on the idea and as I had a natural FET wanted me to just try the prednisolone, I’m glad I listen to him now as like you say it’s expensive.

Sounds like you’ve got a good plan either way, lots of luck for next year xx

Thank u for reply! Sooo happy your good news😍🤗! Yes he just reccomended me prednisolone for this time but he said if it doesnt work on u we can try the infusion as well! I’m still waiting for him to inform me avout the tests! There are louds of! Trombofilia, Nk cells, blood cloth etc!

Hope you a safe wonderful pregnancy dear🤗❤️

Thank you, sounds like your consultant is definitely on the ball with all the tests you’ll be having x

Yes I hope he is the right one! I hardly could find him in Denmark and had a short trip just to visit him and leave my blood samples! I was so devastated about everything without any help but now I feel I can find out more about my situation and trying more options instead of jumping to another cykel without changing anything!

xxxx

Definitely I know it can be frustrating waiting but sometimes it does work out for the best especially to know tests have been covered x

Can I ask if you had autoimmune tests done or you tried prednisolone without doing them? X

E_05 profile image
E_05 in reply toKari55

No I didn’t, I did ask my consultant if I could but he said the test isn’t conclusive in his opinion and prednisolone wouldn’t don’t any harm either way so I could try it x

Paris1771 profile image
Paris1771 in reply toE_05

My dr said the same thing however he did the test but he said it is so hard to rely on the results and prednisolone is not harmful if it’s used just for a few months!

Kari55 profile image
Kari55 in reply toE_05

Thanks for replying! Glad to hear it worked for you. I’m considering not doing the tests as they cost £1400, but maybe ask to be put on lowest dose of steroid. Does it need to be taken throughout the entire pregnancy? X

E_05 in reply toKari55

I was on 5mg from CD1 then when I got my surge upped in to 30mg for 5 days then back down to 5mg until 2 days post ET - that was for a natural FET. My consultant said steroids aren’t good for the baby developing so not to stay on it past then but I know everyone’s clinics differ. I’ve had friends stay on 5mg until 12 weeks and their baby’s are fine xx

Kari55 in reply toE_05

Thank you! Yes, I can’t imagine to take steroid when pregnant but not sure what my clinic recommends. I will have a medicated FET. I might call my consultant after Xmas and talk this option through.

Definitely no harm in asking, lots of luck for when you start x

Im taking prednisolone for my next cycle which is to cover me for NK cells and having the intralipid infusion too. My clinic recommend that if I get BFP I repeat the infusion around 2/3 times up to 12 weeks. I havent started yet but just on the cusp....!xx

Paris1771 profile image
Paris1771 in reply toCinderella5

Thank u for reply! So u r going to do both prednisolone and the infusion! Do u know how many times u must have the infusion before your BFP? Did they tell u to double the dosage of prednisolone from the day of ET or not? Coz the dr told me to do that!

I hope u get your BFP with a great result as u r doing all the best to reach it😍 and hope we start to discuss our pregnancy sympthoms soon😉😉🤗🤗❤️❤️

Ive been asked to take Prednisalone at the same time as I start progesterone, 10mg twice a day for 4 days (10mg in a morning and 10mg in an evening) and then reduce to 10mg each morning only. Im having intralipids once at that point and only again if I get a BFP.....live in hope! The advice surrounding the steriods and dose does seem to very but Im happy to try anything in order to reach pregnancy and its pretty much the only thing that I havent tried so far.

Thanks for your well wishes........I hope you are right.....positive thoughts!!xx

Yes it has been so long and tough way but I do hope we get there soon😍

Thank u so much!

Best wishes! xxxx

Hi.

I have slightly raised nk cells but my fertility doctor would only prescribe them once I had a positive pregnancy test. I took 5mg x 2 daily until I was 12 weeks. I haven’t had any awful side effects. I believe it has helped to keep my baby safe & I’m over 12 weeks.

Good luck with it all xoxo

Hi

Thank u for reply and Im so glad to hear your BFP😍❤️. It is interesting that u got it after your BFP! Actually I’ve never had a BFP and he said it helps my body to calm down and getting used to low dosage of prednisolone so I might start it even one month before starting my ivf! Hope it can help this time🙌

Wish u all the best for your pregnancy and your little miracle😍😍😘😘

Hi Paris. Just a short reply to say that the infusion is Intralipid. Very expensive, and basically is a boost of calories derived from fats and oils. The prednisolone is a steroid used to protect your immune system, and is often prescribed after failed treatment cycles. Hope that helps and good luck with your decision making - and I wish you success next cycle. Diane

Hi dear Diane

Thank u so much for your reply and useful information! As I had 2 failed cycles, he reccomended me the prednisolone and Im just waiting for the result to c how it is! About the intralipid, he said that it is not needed yet and I hope it wont coz of the high cost!

Thanx again for your caring and supporting in the forum as well! It really helps! xxxx

Hi Paris. Thank you for your kind words. Several doctors I know say that you may as well drink a bottle of full cream milk, which gives the same benefit as Intralipid! Something to think about. If you do decide to use it, then make sure all the claims can be backed up. You ladies have to pay far too much as it is! Maybe the prednisolone for now - my thoughts of course. Good luck! Diane

Hi Diane

Thanx to you for your help and give me your time!

What an interesting news about the full cream milk! You mean maybe 30-35% fat ?!

Sometimes there are so easy solutions for big problems right next to us but we sipmly dont know them!

No I wont go for intralipids and really hope to be successed by just taking prednisolone for a few months 🙌

Best wishes to u! xxx
