Third cycle of ICSI - cancelled OHSS!

So I have been very quiet on here recently but rest assured I have been checking in on all your successes etc. Congratulations to those of your who's dreams came true and massive sympathy to those of you still on the fertility road :(

So we started our third cycle of ICSI... all went really well, found the process much less stressful and so much smoother however due to 21 follies and 19 eggs being collected I unfortunately developed OHSS. After a few health checks during the embryo development stage the clinic took the decision to freeze our little frosties at D5 and cancel the transfer. Although im disapounted and a little upset it's not all bad news... I need to be well and healthy and im pleased to say we got sooo much further than previously with 7 blastocysts frozen all grade 4s and three more are being cultured for another 24hours to see if they can get to blastocyst stage to. I'm really pleased with this!

What are people's experience with frozen transfers please? I havent had chance to rad up on it yet but what's the thawing process please?

Thank you xxx

Hi ICSIRose. That’s a shame you’ve had to suffer OHSS and I do hope your body soon settles back down, so you can have a transfer. On a positive note, your little Frosties are stored safely, waiting to be back where they belong. Probably be a natural transfer so as not to upset you again, but this will be explained when you are ready. Get well soon and fingers crossed all turns out well. Diane

Sorry to hear of OHSS but your overall health comes first.

And 7 blasts so far, that's amazing.

With my fet they were thawed the day before but mine were frozen on day 1 as I had hydrosalpinx. My friend who recently had an fet with 5 day blast had hers thawed around 40 mins before transfer, she got her bfp last Sunday

Good luck

Xxx

Thank you so much, this is encouraging! Xx

I’ve heard frozen can be a lot more successful as you don’t have all the swelling etc after EC - so all sounds super positive to me! Good luck xx

Hi daisy

That's pretty much what my clinic said so I'm glad someone else has confirmed this too! I usually put on half a stone and go up a dress size during each cycle so I'm pretty sure not having all those drugs pumping through my system next time will be a good thing! Xx
