Healthshield and IVF selfunding treatment..

Hello,

I am not sure there will be many answers to this, and I have tried contacting health shield directly via phone, email and the contact page but no repones or luck after a week of trying!

Firstly, does anyone get Healthshield benefits at work? Or pay for it themselves at all?

If so, have you ever used it to claim back some of your treatment costs? From what I understand IVF costs themselves aren't covered, like collection, drugs etc. But I was wondering about scans? Like a check up on your insides before treatment?

Any help on this would be great or any insight on health shield would really help.

TIA

I’m insured with AXA through work. They cover fertility investigations but the specialist has to be on their list. None of the specialists from the fertility clinics were so I ended up paying for everything myself. It’s definitely worth checking though. Good luck xx

What a shame, there are so many hoops with these things! I will keep trying to get a reply from them. Thanks for the info :)

I’m with healthshield. As far as I’m aware all infertility is excluded from it but worth giving them a call to ask. All my paid treatment was part of a package so scans etc were included and I never really needed to look into it in any detail.

Hi, I have this cover through work but never tried to claim for a scan. I tried for prescriptions and they refused to pay. You can try. In the worse case they will send you a letter saying why they refuse to pay. Best of luck xx

Yes, that is true. I had the scan anyways so will just send it off and see what happens :) That is a shame they have refused prescriptions for you though xx
