So last week I started bleeding heavy so the local epu booked me a scan! My little baby was there clear as day all safe and sound , we saw the heartbeat 🙏🏻The nurse said there’s was a large amount of implantation bleed that was still yet to come and she noticed there was a large amount of bowel gas too. Since then I’ve become paranoid, visiting the toilet many a times but to no success! I understand with the hormones, it’s normal to become alittle constipated but the bloating is driving me insane. Very very uncomfortable 😩😩 I’ve tried prunes, walking after meals, milk and honey and drinking lots of water. I look as though I’m 6months already!!
Does anyone have any advise ? X

Hi. I had alot of constipation and Diane and a few others recommended Fybogel sachets (i believe there are other flavours but im on the orange). I take this and im on a high fibre diet. Thankfully even though i do get constipation its not as bad as it used to be. Keep up with drinking lots of water. I am having pure ginger tea too as i believe this is good for nausea. (Can only manage 1 cup a day though)
Congratulations and heres to a happy and healthy pregnancy. Im glad you have been reassured after the bleeding.
Are you still using pessaries? If so, do you know how long you will be on them for? Xx
I’ve just called my clinic and they advised that I pop into my local pharmacy. I am pooping but just once a day, would you say I’m constipated?
Think I might pick up some ginger tea too whilst I’m out.
Thank you for your well wishes x
Yes still on progesterone pessaries twice a day and oestrogen 3times. Well I have a scan next Tuesday at my clinic and they will advise when to stop, I think i will be slowly weaned off them both xx
I wasnt even going once a day and the little time i did, it was painful and i struggled. I am trying to eat soft food too. Im finding Weetabix is good for me as its high in fibre also.
I did try lactulose and it wasnt very pleasant to drink (found it oily) felt it didnt do much for me....but what doesnt work for one person may do for another.
Good luck in advance at your scan on tuesday. Stay positive all will be well (god willing) xx
No not painful at all tbh. But feel as though there’s lots more but due to the bloating I can’t. My water intake has reduced since I started feeling nauseous
The pharmacist recommended I try lactulose as she said it’s easy on the tummy and to start with 15ml once a day! Thank you masha ❤️ xx
I had the constipation too... it was awful... my doc prescribed some sachets drinks.. can’t remember the name and it did help... it will pass... another symptom of pregnancy 😊
I’ve only had constipation like this when I was diagnosed with cysts back in 2012. Awful is an understatement 😩 and on top that maybe inserting the pessarie rectally won’t be helping! As I’m still under the care of the clinic yet I will give them a quick call and see what they advise! When I went for scan at the EPU the nurse advised again peppermint which is what I would normally have ! Xx
Really pleased your scan went well, fantastic. As for the bloating yes is a bloody nightmare. Drink plenty of fluids. Agree with others it is a common pregnancy symptom. It will ease ( mines a bit better at 9 weeks) xoxo
Than you x with the nausea it’s difficult to drink a lot even when adding cordial! Hopefully it does, my stomach huuuge, can’t even poke it lol congratulations on your first midwife appointment going well, mine is booked for next week , 2days after my scan at the clinic X
Definitely get yourself something safe to take during pregnancy as Diane suggested. I was constipated throughout my pregnancy and trust me you don't still want to be once you have given birth!!!! All the best for a happy healthy pregnancy. Xx
