So after my early miscarriage after first round of ivf we had our follow up appointment today. We looked at embryos left in the freezer to be transferred and there are 4.
Thing is, there are two in separate dishes and two in the same dish. Why are they in the same dish? Does anyone know?
Thanks for reading xx

They asked me if I wanted to put only one or 2 embryos in each straw (payment for crtopreservation was per straw
I didn’t understand the difference so the doctor explained that to thaw they have to thaw the full straw. If I only want to transfer one I would have to freeze again the remaining one, which makes it loose quality or can potentially lead the embryos to arrest.
So I suppose that putting 2 embryos in the same straw was more appropriate if I wanted to transfer 2 embryos at the same time.
I don’t know if the same applies if they store the embryos in dishes though, but that’s all that comes to my mind.
That’s really interesting. My clinic also freeze JB straws. When I was talking about which embryo to use first they said whilst they knew which ones were in which straw they had no way of knowing which of the embryos they were thawing to enable me to pick the best first. They didn’t mention thawing both at the same time and then refreezing. I wonder if they did by just didn’t tell me (though the comment about not being able to pick the best then doesn’t make sense) or whether my clinic have found a way of just thawing one that some other clinics haven’t. Strange!
I am sorry I have no idea and actually no idea how mine are stored. Hopefully you will get your answer xx
